UA jersey tour: LB Tre Threat

Linebacker Tre Threat received his Under Armour All-America game jersey presented by American Family Insurance on Tuesday morning in front of teammates, coaches, faculty and friends at Spanish Fort (Alabama) High School.

The 27th-ranked linebacker in the country and 15th-ranked player overall in the state of Alabama said being selected to this game was a dream come true.

“It means a lot to me,” Threat said. “It just shows that I can perform and that I’m up there with the best-of-the-best in the country. With ESPN and Under Armour, it’s just a blessing to play in this game and with the other top recruits in the nation. It really means a lot."

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker said there are a few former Under Armour All-Americans that he remembers watching in the game.

“I just started watching the game a few years ago. I remember watching it last year to watch guys like Byron Cowart, Jeff Holland and my buddy Kerryon Johnson. Going back and looking at some of the highlights of the game, Joey Bosa, the defensive end from Ohio State, was really good."

The three-star prospect has been committed to Auburn since April and remains strong in his pledge to the Tigers.

“My commitment is really strong and I have no doubt in my mind that Auburn is where I’m going,” Threat said. “I’ve always liked the coaches and the environment at Auburn. It’s a very friendly environment. I’m really close with the coaches and they just don’t see me as a player but they see me as a person. I’ve always liked that about Auburn.”

Threat is not planning to take any other visits.

Q&A with Tre Threat

What is your first football memory?

Threat: My first football memory would just have to be when I was about eight [or] nine years old and I was playing fullback for our Pop Warner team. They called a 22 dive, basically a fullback dive up the A gap and i remember taking it for a 70-yard touchdown.

If you could start a team with any other player in this class who would it be and why?

Threat: I’d really have to go with Kyle Davis with this one. He’s a people person, I like the way he is as a person and his personality, things like that.

If you could play 1-on-1 with any professional athlete in their sport, who would it be and why?

Threat: I’d have to say CC Sabathia. I’d like to go one-on-one in baseball against Sabathia. He’s just one of the best pitchers in the league and he has been for the last several years. I’ve always been a baseball fan. I’m not a Yankees fan but I enjoy watching him play.

What number do you wear in high school and is there a reason why you wear that number?

Threat: I wear No. 42. Jackie Robinson is the first person you think of when you see the No. 42. I’ve always just liked that number.

What is something about yourself that not many people might know?

Threat: Not many people know that I play guitar. I’ve been playing for about three or four years.
