WATCH: Dionte Mullins UA jersey presentation

PINECREST, Fla. – Miami commitment Dionte Mullins was presented with an Under Armour All America jersey on Tuesday afternoon, in a ceremony attended by friends, family and members of the Gulliver Schools faculty.

Mullins, the No. 84-ranked prospect in the 2016 class, says he dreamed about being an All-American since he was a kid playing Pop Warner. It was a dream realized Tuesday for the 5-foot-11, 180-pound receiver.

“It means so much,” said Mullins. “I grew up loving football so much, and I had heard about the game a lot from so many people. It’s like a dream come true. I always wanted to be an All-American-level player.”

While Mullins says he will be thinking about his Gulliver Prep teammates when he takes the field for the Under Armour All-America Game, the chance to represent the city of Miami in front of all of his friends and family will be at the forefront.

“To me, it means a lot to represent Miami and play in front of my people. A lot of people can come to the game because it’s in Florida, and hopefully I can make my people proud.”

Six questions with Dionte Mullins:

What player are you looking forward to competing with or against in the Under Armour All-America Game?

"Me personally, I really don’t care about anyone that lines up against me. Either you are good, or you aren’t. I just like to go line and compete. If I beat you, I beat you. If I get beat, then I will try to beat the man the next time."

If you could start a team with any player in your class, who would it be and why?

"I have to say Cedrick Wright. Cedrick is a great defensive football player. He’s a great open field tackler, he knows the game of football and he loves it. He a physical and smart player."

What is your earliest football memory?

"I remember when I first started playing for the Florida City Razorbacks. I was on a team with Antonio Callaway and Maurice Alexander. We were small, but I was really good as a kid. I played cornerback that year, then the next year I played on a different team for my granddad and scored every game at running back. One year, I actually played on ESPN and ran back a kickoff for a touchdown when I played Pop Warner."

Which football player did you watch as a kid?

"It’s a lot [of players], but I played running back in Pop Warner and everybody used to call me little Steven Jackson, so I liked him. Then I played receiver, and they started calling me Larry Fitzgerald and Devin Hester because I returned kicks for touchdowns. I like Fitzgerald, he’s a great receiver with big hands and soft hands that can run great routes."

If you could take on any pro in their sport, who would it be and why?

"I would want to line up across from Richard Sherman. I would like to compete against him."

What number do your wear, and why?

"I wear 8. I made a name with the number my freshman year. I was a freshman All-American, so I have stuck with it."
