It will be a happy Halloween with a full slate of football on Saturday. Noon ET South Carolina at Texas A&M, SEC Network They’ve lost two games in a row, they’re no longer ranked and the head coach is being asked about his relationship with a backup quarterback. This is where Texas A&M is at these days, far removed from only a few weeks ago when things looked so bright. After dropping back-to-back games to Alabama and Ole Miss, Kevin Sumlin and the Aggies need to respond, not only to get back in the win column, but to get out of the rumor mill. No. 19 Ole Miss at Auburn, ESPN Is Ole Miss back on track? Who knows. One minute, they’re losing by 28 to Florida and getting upset by Memphis. The next minute, they’re beating Texas A&M by 20 points. With Laremy Tunsil in the fold and the team heading in the right direction again, Ole Miss is back in the SEC title hunt. A heavy favorite at Auburn, this is a game the Rebs need to establish some consistency. 3:30 p.m. ET Georgia vs. No. 11 Florida, CBS If there was ever a game Georgia and coach Mark Richt needed to win, this is it. After losing to Alabama and Tennessee in embarrassing fashion, and then watching as Florida has taken charge of the East, Richt’s Bulldogs must reassert themselves. A loss would mean Georgia is mathematically eliminated from winning the East and Florida establishes itself a serious playoff contender. 4 p.m. ET Tennessee-Martin at Arkansas, SEC Network Is this the beginning of a second-half surge? Arkansas coaches certainly hope it is. After falling well short of the preseason hype during the first half of the season, the Hogs took a big step forward last weekend by beating Auburn in quadruple overtime. Now a win against heavy underdog UT-Martin would mean getting back to .500 and establishing some momentum heading into the home stretch that will feature Ole Miss, LSU and Mississippi State over the next three games. 7 p.m. ET Vanderbilt at No. 18 Houston, ESPN2 Be very quiet. Whisper when you say this: Vanderbilt has won three of its last five games. That’s as many wins as the Commodores had all of last year. Now it’s time, though, to see just how far they can go. Against No. 18 Houston, Derek Mason’s squad can really silence the doubters. But with so much uncertainty at quarterback and facing a team that scores points in bunches, can Vanderbilt keep up? 7:30 p.m. ET Tennessee at Kentucky, SEC Network The Vols are 9-point favorites, according to the sports books, but this has the feel of a trap game. After fighting for four quarters and pushing Alabama to the brink on the road, how will Butch Jones’ team respond? They’re so young and so beat up after all. The defense nearly carried Tennessee to an upset over Alabama, but will it continue its rise against a hungry Kentucky offense that features a playmaker at quarterback in Patrick Towles?
