4:56pm An underwhelming batting display that may have looked a lot worse had the tenth-wicket partnership not put on 18. It was a familiar story for the visitors, with none of their batters able to capitalize on whatever starts they got. Auguste, Campbell, Chase, Hope all got starts but their failure to kick on meant NZ kept chipping away. Pierre finished unbeaten on 22, and ran out of partners in the end.

NZ will be pleased with their bowling effort. They were asked to bowl first and made the most of the conditions. Henry was the pick of the bunch, bagging four. Jamieson was a little expensive at the start, but recovered well. Duffy and Foulkes also did their bit, with Santner tidy as usual. NZ now have what looks like a routine run-chase in front of them, and it will be a surprise if they fail to knock it off. We will be back soon with the start of the second innings.

Seales, trying to get off the mark, looks for, rather ambitiously, a flat-batted swat over mid off. Makes a mess of it and slices it terribly. Santner chases after it from mid off, moves smartly to his right and completes the catch over his shoulder!
