The Patriots' two-year agreement (max. value $8 million) with DT Beau Allen (Buccaneers) projects to fill the void created by Danny Shelton's departure to Detroit. The 6-foot-3, 327-pound Allen entered the NFL as a seventh-round pick out of Wisconsin in 2014. After four seasons in Philadelphia, he spent the last two years in Tampa Bay. Allen, who has played in 90 regular-season games, joins Lawrence Guy on the big-bodied DT depth chart (players who excel vs. run and usually come off vs. pass).
