LUBBOCK, Texas -- Martin Zeno scored 23 points and grabbed
eight rebounds, and Alan Voskuil hit five 3-pointers in adding 17
to lead Texas Tech past Stephen F. Austin 60-44 on Saturday.
Zeno scored 14 of Tech's first 19 points in the second half
following a sluggish start for both schools, which shot a combined
34 percent from the floor before the first half ended with Tech up
27-18.
But Texas Tech (2-1) hit 54 percent of its shots in the final 20
minutes, getting 22 of its 33 points from Zeno and Voskuil, who was
5-of-7 from beyond the arc.
Matt Kingsley scored 19 points to lead SFA (2-1), which had 23
turnovers.
The win came a day after sophomore Decensae White, who started
in Tech's 56-54 loss to Sam Houston State on Wednesday night, left
the team.
White and Knight met Friday morning to talk about his playing
time and role on the team, The Dallas Morning News reported in
Saturday editions. The decision to leave the team was mutual,
Raiders head coach designate Pat Knight and the player's father,
David White, told the Morning News.
