Texas A&M-CC knocks off Stephen F. Austin 71-63

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- Ehab Amin scored 22 points, Rashawn Thomas added 20, and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi knocked off Southland Conference leader Stephen F. Austin 71-63 on Saturday.

Texas A&M-CC (13-11, 8-4) dealt Stephen F. Austin its first conference loss of the season (20-4, 10-1) and ended the Lumberjacks' 19-game winning streak.

The Islanders trailed much of the first half, but closed on a 22-5 run and led 35-25 at the break.

Stephen F. Austin trimmed the deficit to two by scoring the first eight points of the second half, but then went scoreless for 7:38 as the Islanders built their lead back up to 47-33 with 11:26 to go. SFA chipped away again, and Ty Charles' 3-pointer made it 59-55 with 4:56 left.

But Amin responded with a 3-pointer, then the Islanders made eight straight free throws in the last two minutes to preserve the win.

Thomas Walkup paced SFA with 25 points while Charles had 10.
