Clermont have secured their place in the last eight of the European Champions Cup following a dour 9-6 win over Bordeaux at Stade Chaban-Delmas.
The visitors were reduced to 13 men at one stage early in the first half after Nigel Owens handed yellow cards to Isaia Toeava and Viktor Kolelishvili.
Bordeaux failed to make the numerical advantage count, scoring a solitary penalty off the boot of Ian Madigan during that time.
Camille Lopez and Madigan exchanged penalties for a 6-6 half-time score, before Lopez kicked what turned out to be the match-winner in the 59th minute.
The result ends Bordeaux's chances of making it out of pool play.
