BOSTON -- Jamie Langenbrunner scored his second goal of the game with 1:11 gone in overtime and the New Jersey Devils, who allowed three straight third-period goals to blow a two-goal lead, beat the Boston Bruins 4-3 on Thursday night.
Scott Clemmensen stopped 24 shots for New Jersey, which won its seventh consecutive game.
Tim Thomas made 26 saves for the Bruins, who lost for the fifth time in 21 games.
Langenbrunner and Zach Parise scored to give the Devils a 2-0 lead after two, but Boston took its first lead on Dennis Wideman's slap shot with 6:30 left. New Jersey tied it on Patrik Elias' goal with 1:45 to play in regulation.
Boston's Marc Savard had a goal and an assist, and Phil Kessel had a pair of assists in his first game after missing six with mononucleosis.
The Atlantic Division-leading Devils moved into second place in the Eastern Conference, 11 points behind the Bruins.
Panthers 5, Canadiens 1
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Jay Bouwmeester and Stephen Weiss scored power-play goals in the first period for Florida.
Richard Zednik, Radek Dvorak and Michael Frolik also scored for the Panthers, 7-1-3 in their last 11 games. Weiss added two assists, and Cory Stillman helped set up three goals.
Dvorak's goal came on a penalty shot at 11:03 of the third period and gave Florida a 4-1 lead.
Robert Lang scored a power-play goal for Montreal, which ended a five-game road trip with four consecutive losses. The Canadiens, on their longest losing streak this season, gave up at least four goals in every game of the trip.
Tomas Vokoun made 35 saves for Florida, improving to 6-1-2 in his last nine starts.
Stars 4, Red Wings 2
DETROIT -- Brad Richards had two assists a minute apart on power plays midway through the first period to lift Dallas over Detroit.
Steve Ott, Jere Lehtinen, Chris Conner and Loui Eriksson put the Stars ahead 4-0 early in the second period.
Marian Hossa and Andreas Lilja scored for the Red Wings during the second period.
Chris Osgood gave up two goals on the first five shots he faced and was benched after giving up three goals on 12 shots in the first period.
The Stars have won three straight and are 5-1-1 in their last seven games. Detroit is on an 0-3-1 skid.
Hurricanes 3, Lightning 2
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Eric Staal scored with 1:36 remaining to lift Carolina past Tampa Bay.
Matt Cullen had a goal and an assist, Chad LaRose also scored and Cam Ward earned his 100th NHL victory for the Hurricanes. Carolina, which had lost six of eight, played just its second home game since Jan. 6 and improved to 4-0 against the Lightning.
Mark Recchi finished with a goal and an assist, and Ryan Malone also scored for Tampa Bay, which was denied its first four-game winning streak since November 2007.
Ward, making his 15th straight start, stopped 27 shots and improved to 6-1 in his last seven starts against the Lightning.
Islanders 5, Thrashers 4
ATLANTA -- Kyle Okposo had his first two-goal game in the NHL, and goalie Yann Danis survived a shaky third period in the New York Islanders' victory over Atlanta.
In a matchup featuring two of the league's three worst teams, the Islanders snapped a 14-game losing streak on the road (0-13-1) with their first consecutive victories since late November.
The Thrashers, losers of three straight, dropped to 9-14-2 at home. Only the Islanders' 19 points at home are fewer than Atlanta's 20.
Doug Weight's eighth goal chased Thrashers goalie Kari Lehtonen, who faced just 15 shots, just 13:17 into the game.
With 7:21 remaining, Okposo's ninth goal, a wrister from the bottom of the right circle, gave New York a 5-3 lead and made a tough-luck loser out of Johan Hedberg, who stopped 17 of 18 shots.
Senators 3, Blues 1
ST. LOUIS -- Peter Regin scored his first goal in the NHL with 1:57 left and lifted Ottawa over St. Louis.
Regin broke a 1-1 deadlock when he gained control of the puck on the left side, skated behind the Blues net and beat goalie Chris Mason with a wrist shot from the right circle.
Mike Fisher, who had scored an earlier short-handed tally, added an empty-net goal with 32.4 seconds remaining. Brian Elliott made 22 saves for the Senators.
Brad Winchester had the only goal for St. Louis.
Maple Leafs 7, Avalanche 4
DENVER -- Jason Blake's goal early in the third period snapped a tie, and Dominic Moore scored twice for Toronto, which broke a four-game losing streak by beating Colorado.
Nik Antropov, Mikhail Grabovski, Jeff Finger and Matt Stajan also scored for Toronto, and Vesa Toskala made 17 saves. It was the most goals the Avalanche have allowed this season.
Milan Hejduk scored twice for the Avalanche, his second multigoal game this season. Chris Stewart and John-Michael Liles added in goals for Colorado, which has dropped six of seven.
