LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Spice Route took the lead with one-eighth of a mile to go and won by two lengths in the $200,000 Elkhorn Stakes at Keeneland on Friday.
The 5-year-old son of King's Best ran the 1½-mile turf race under Rene Douglas on firm turf in 2:29.23.
Musketier finished second to give trainer Roger Attfield a 1-2 finish in the 12-horse race.
Spice Route paid $10.20, $5.20 and $4. Musketier returned $19 and $11.40, and Brass Hat finished third and paid $8.40.
Spice Route, owned by the partnership of Harlequin Ranches, Ralph Johnson and Attfield, won for the fifth time in 19 career starts and increased his lifetime earnings to $721,854.
Friday marked the last day of Keeneland's spring meet.
