NEW YORK -- Seattle Smooth rallied for a fourth straight stakes victory Saturday, beating Color Me Up by three quarters of a length in the $150,000 Shuvee Handicap for fillies and mares at Belmont Park.
This was a lot closer than usual.
The 4-year-old was a dominant winner of the Go For Wand Stakes at Delaware Park and the Fitz Dixon Cotillion Stakes at Philadelphia Park last year and the Bed o' Roses in her season debut last month at Aqueduct.
In the Shuvee, Seattle Smooth and jockey Ramon Dominguez kicked into gear in the final stages after altering course to find running room.
The time was 1:35.94 for the mile on the fast track.
Seattle Smooth, trained by Tony Dutrow, paid $2.50, $2.20 and $2.10 as the 1-5 favorite. Color Me Up returned $7.20 and $3.70 to place. Sea Chanter paid $2.20 to show.
