Thoughts and prayers in Jackson, Wyo. today are focused on the well being of Mark "Big Wally" Wolling. Wolling, a longtime ski patroller at Jackson Hole, was caught and seriously injured in avalanche while on a control route in Cheyenne Bowl yesterday morning.

"At this point in time everyone's thinking about the Wolling family and Wally. He's a tough guy and we're hoping he can pull through," a friend of Wolling's from Jackson told ESPN Freeskiing this morning. Wolling is being treated at the Eastern Idaho Medical Center; he was in critical condition as of last night. (Detailed reports of the accident in the Jackson Hole News & Guide and TetonAt.com.)

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, a 23-year-old woman who worked as a ski instructor at Arapahoe Basin was killed in an apparent tree well accident at Steamboat Springs. Her body was recovered yesterday morning. (Steamboat Pilot story).

So... be careful out there.
