HOUSTON -- Torye Pelham's last offensive rebound was his biggest, as he followed his own missed shot with a tip-in at the buzzer Saturday to give Southern Miss a 57-55 victory over Houston.
It was Pelham's ninth offensive rebound of the game, and his 13th rebound overall. He finished with six points.
Gary Flowers led the Golden Eagles (14-8, 4-4 Conference USA) with 15 points, Sai'Quon Stone had 12 and R.L. Horton 11.
Aubrey Coleman led Houston (11-11, 4-5) with 22 points. Maurice McNeil added 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Cougars had tied the game up at 55 when Desmond Wade hit one of two free throws with 30 seconds left before Southern Miss worked for the last shot.
The Eagles trailed 29-21 at halftime, but opened the second half on a 12-4 run that was capped by Flowers' 3-pointer that knotted the score at 33.
