NEW YORK -- The Blue Jays have purchased the contract of outfielder Dave Dellucci from Triple-A Las Vegas and cleared a roster spot by designating utilityman Russ Adams for assignment.
The 35-year-old Dellucci hit .275 with one RBI in 14 RBIs this year for Cleveland, which released him June 1. Toronto signed him to a minor league contract nine days later. He batted .317 in 16 games at Las Vegas with three homers and nine RBIs.
He also has played for Baltimore (1997), Arizona (1998-03), the Yankees (2003), Texas (2004-05) and Philadelphia (2006).
Adams batted .238 in eight games with the Blue Jays this year.
