J.P. Ricciardi joins 'Baseball Tonight'

Former Toronto Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi has joined ESPN as a "Baseball Tonight" analyst and will make his debut on the network in March.

Ricciardi has spent three decades in baseball as a front office executive and scout and as a minor league manager and player.

"I'm really excited about joining the ESPN Baseball Tonight family," Ricciardi said in a statement. "I look forward to sharing my perspective of the game, which has many layers and has been built over the years through my various roles."

Ricciardi spent eight seasons as general manager of the Blue Jays until 2009. Prior to joining Toronto's front office, he held a variety of positions during 16 years with the Oakland Athletics including director of player personnel, special assistant to the GM, and roles in scouting and instruction.

Ricciardi played professionally for two minor league seasons with the New York Mets.

ESPN announced earlier this week that Aaron Boone, who played 12 seasons for six different major league clubs, also would be joining "Baseball Tonight" starting in March. Boone also will make select appearances on the network as a game analyst.
