CHITTAGONG, Bangladesh, Dec 20 - Off spinner
Harbhajan Singh took the final Bangladesh wicket on the fourth
morning as India won the second and final test by an innings and
83 runs to complete a 2-0 series sweep on Monday.
Harbhajan had number 11 batsman Talha Jubair caught at
long-on by Irfan Pathan with the fourth delivery of the day as
Bangladesh folded for 124 in their second innings.
The home team were 118 for nine overnight after India
enforced the follow on, having bowled Bangladesh out for 333 in
reply to their first innings 540.
Jubair hoisted Harbhajan for a six over long on to top score
with 31 before falling trying to repeat the shot.
Left-armer Pathan produced a superb post-tea spell on
Sunday, claiming the first five wickets to finish with five for
32.
It was the 20-year-old paceman's third five-wicket haul in
the series, after capturing 11 for 96 in the innings and 140-run
victory in Dhaka last week.
Bangladesh batsman Mohammad Ashraful, 20, who hit 158 not
out on Sunday, was declared man of the match and Pathan player
of the series.
It was defeat number 31 from 34 matches since Bangladesh
made their test debut in 2000. The lowest-ranked test side have
lost their last five matches by an innings.
The two teams now meet in a one-day series which starts on
Thursday.
