Kale has seemingly been seen everywhere these days, but next Friday, the once discarded green that has risen to prominence will take on new life -- as an in-arena giveaway. Georgetown announced Tuesday the school will host "Hail to Kale" night at its women's basketball game against Xavier on Feb. 13. The first 100 fans will get free bowls of kale Caesar salad, gift cards will be given away to restaurants in the D.C. area that are known for their kale dishes and fans at the game will be able to top their pizza with kale. "We were looking to do something different and kale has been on my mind a lot," said Chris Grosse, the Hoyas' director of marketing. "It's polarizing. People either love it or hate it." Events throughout the night are still being developed, but Grosse said there will be a kale eating contest and anyone who has the letters K, A, L or E in their name will be let into the game for free. The school could also allow people who hate kale to sit together in an area of the arena. Grosse said he also hopes to have young fans face each other in a race in kale or lettuce costumes.
