UA jersey tour: Miles Sanders

WATCH: Miles Sanders UA jersey presentation

Penn State running back commit Miles Sanders says he felt a lot of pride when realizing he was invited to play in the Under Armour All-America game. The game had been something he had thought about, but now would be part of his future reality.

“It was a dream,” Sanders said. “It’s more than an honor. I’ve been watching it on TV for the last three years, so it was a dream come true.”

The ESPN 300 running back won’t be graduating early, but the Under Armour game will be one of his last high school football events before making his way to Happy Valley.

Sanders has been posting some ridiculous highlights on Friday nights and is hoping he makes a similar impact at Penn State from the moment he steps on campus.

“Penn State told me that I should play my freshman year, and I’m looking forward to competing with Saquon (Barkley),” he said. “Penn State uses two backs. They use two dominant backs, so I’m looking forward to getting up there and competing.”

Q&A with Miles Sanders:

What players are you looking forward to competing with or against at the UA All America Game?

Kareem Walker and BJ Emmons. Just to compete and show who is really the best running back in the nation. I never really got to compete with Kareem, but I look forward to being with some of the top linebackers, too.

If you could start a team with any other player in your class, who would it be?

My fellow Penn State commit, Mike Menet. He’s the No. 2 guard in the nation and he’s committed to Penn State. I look forward to playing with him and we have a good relationship.

What was your earliest football memory?

My first year ever playing I was seven years old. I played offensive line, but then they moved me to running back after seeing how fast I was. I had No. 98 and everything.

Which football player did you watch as a kid?

Right now I like watching Le'Veon Bell. I like his patience, how he hits the hole, he can make people miss or run people over. That’s what I like playing like.

If you could take on any pro athlete in their sport, who would it be?

Usain Bolt. I just want to see how fast he really is.

Why do you wear your number (4)?

I picked four because my freshman year I had 33 and my sophomore year I was supposed to get 21, that’s my favorite number. It was taken by a senior and I got four and I just fell in love with that number.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

People don’t know that I can really cook. My mom told me I can cook, I always help with Thanksgiving dinner so I think I can cook pretty well. I like to cook macaroni and cheese from scratch. My mom taught me how to do it, so I like to cook that.
