UA jersey tour: CB John Broussard

WATCH: John Broussard UA jersey presentation

ESPN 300 defensive back John Broussard received his Under Armour All-America game jersey presented by American Family Insurance on Friday in front of teammates, coaches, faculty and friends at Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama.

The No. 7-ranked cornerback and the 66th player overall in the ESPN 300 said it has always been a dream of his to play in the prestigious All-American game.

“Oh it means a lot to me,” Broussard said. “This is a big personal accomplishment for me because it’s something that I’ve always wanted to be a part of and I’ve always wanted to play in the game because I’ve watched the game on TV growing up.

"I remember watching Robert Nkemdiche, Vernon Hargreaves and Amari Cooper, guys that are doing really well now in college.”

Broussard has been committed to Auburn since May but after a shaky start by the Tigers admitted his commitment is not quite as strong as it once was.

"I would say I have a pretty strong commitment right now, but not as strong as it used to be,” Broussard said. “The defense hasn’t really lived up to what they portrayed it to be in the preseason.”

The four-star athlete visited FSU this past weekend and has another trip to Tallahassee planned this upcoming weekend.

“FSU just keeps winning and I like what they are doing in their secondary,” he said. “I’ll probably visit Mississippi State soon, too."

Q&A with John Broussard

What is your first football memory?

Broussard: I scored my first touchdown when I was 10 years old. Our quarterback got hurt in the playoffs and I came in and the first time I ran the ball I scored a touchdown.

If you could start a team with any other player in this class who would it be and why?

Broussard: It would be Levonta Taylor. He’s just a great player overall. He’s just a great athlete and he seems like a real good leader.

If you could play 1-on-1 with any professional athlete in their sport, who would it be and why?

Broussard: I’d have to say Calvin Johnson. He’s incredible and he’s hard to stop. I think it would be fun to go out there and just try to stop him.

What number do you wear in high school and is there a reason why you wear that number?

Broussard: I wear No. 2. There’s not really a reason behind it. I just like the number.

What is something that not many people know about you?

Broussard: I’ve been working since I was 12. My family has their own cleaning business and I’ve been working with them since I was real young.
