The Boston Celtics have agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract to re-sign forward Jonas Jerebko, sources told ESPN.com.
The Celtics acquired Jerebko at February's trade deadline as part of a swap that sent veteran Tayshaun Prince back to Detroit. Thanks to his high-energy play and quality outside shooting (40.6 percent beyond the 3-point arc), Jerebko carved out a steady role off Boston's bench and averaged 7.1 points and 4.8 rebounds over 18.2 minutes per game in 29 regular-season appearances.
Jerebko had a quiet postseason with Boston -- the first playoff experience of his career -- as he averaged only 2.8 points and 3.5 rebounds, but played 17 minutes per game and was in consideration for a starting spot late in a first-round sweep at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The 28-year-old Jerebko might have resuscitated his NBA career during his brief Boston stint. The Swedish forward showed he can still help a team after five roller-coaster seasons in Detroit.
In five NBA seasons, Jerebko has averaged 7.1 points and 4.3 rebounds over 19.8 minutes per game. Jerebko earned $4.5 million last season in the final year of a four-year, $18 million contract he signed with the Pistons in 2011.
