Two-time Olympic champion Nicola Adams has retired from boxing at the age of 37 over fears that she could lose her sight.
Adams was the first female boxer to become a double Olympic champion when she won gold for Great Britain in the flyweight division at the Rio 2016 games, having previously won gold in the same division at London 2012.
Adams (5-0-1) turned professional in 2017 and is the WBO world flyweight champion.
In an open letter in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Adams said: "I've been advised that any further impact to my eye would most likely lead to irreparable damage and permanent vision loss.
"I'm immensely honoured to have represented our country, to win double Olympic gold medals and then the WBO championship belt is a dream come true. But it's not without taking its toll on my body."
Adams drew with Mexico's Maria Salinas in her last fight in September at the Royal Albert Hall.
