The meeting between British heavyweights Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce has been rescheduled for October 24 in London's O2 Arena, promoter Frank Warren announced on Thursday.
The fight was originally supposed to take place on April 11 but had been postponed to July 11 due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the pandemic ongoing, the decision was taken to move the bout to October.
"The winner of this cracker on October 24th will be nailed on for a world title shot in 2021," Warren said on Twitter.
Both fighters also expressed their eagerness to get back in the ring on social media.
Known as "Dynamite," Dubois (14-0, 13 KOs), 22, made his professional debut in 2017 and has quickly made a name for himself as a fearless and exciting young boxer.
"Hopefully in the near future I will be able to get some good overseas sparring in. I'll be ready for October 24 so I hope Joe is coming prepared," Dubois said.
Unbeaten in 10 professional bouts, Joyce (10-0, 9 KOs), 34, is also an Olympic heavyweight silver medalist from 2016.
"It was great news to get the new date so I can finally punch up Dubois. Obviously once lockdown started I had a good idea we wouldn't meet in July. But I was always staying on top of training. Now gyms are open for athletes I can kick on and just keep my focus on the new date" he said.
