Top-seeded Kentucky swept Wofford Thursday night to advance to the second round of the NCAA volleyball tournament.
Brooklyn DeLeye had 14 kills to lead the way for the Wildcats, who extended their winning streak to 23 games. Kentucky plays its second-round match Friday vs. No. 8 UCLA, which advanced with a five-set win vs. Georgia Tech on Thursday.
Three seeded teams fell on the tournament's first day: North Carolina ousted No. 6 UTEP, Cal Poly eliminated No. 5 BYU and Utah State beat No. 7 Tennessee.
Creighton, a No. 3 seed, survived a five-set scare against Northern Colorado thanks to 30 kills from senior Ava Martin.
Nebraska (30-0), the tournament's No. 1 overall seed, plays its first-round match Friday against LIU. Fellow top seeds Texas and Pitt also begin their quests for a national championship on Friday.
The final four will be held at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on Dec. 18. The championship game is scheduled for Dec. 21 and will air on ABC.
