2:30 pm Oh, well. Today's windy and challenging conditions in Wellington caused the Sri Lankan batters to struggle tremendously throughout the innings. With four wickets lost in the first ten overs, Sri Lanka got off to a disastrous start in their powerplay. They lost their first four wickets in a span of eight runs. Beginning with Nissanka chipping it off the leading edge towards Santner at mid-off. Asalanka, the captain, scored a duck, and the four of them returned to the dressing room on a single digit. Three of the dismissals included Santner, who executed a superb run-out to remove Kamindu after hitting one stump down under his arm. He then took a brilliant review after Smith and Hay persuaded him to dismiss Asalanka. Liyanage and Avishka then began to reconstruct the innings. Avishka reached his ninth ODI fifty off fifty-two balls with a stunning knock. Liyanage scored 36 runs before losing his wicket while attempting to knock Santner over the on-side. Before giving up his wicket to backward point while attempting to drive it over the covers, Avishka scored 56 runs. Lower down the order, Wickramasinghe and Hasaranga provided some important runs for the Sri Lankan bowlers to defend in the second innings. Matt Henry was excellent with the ball today! He finished his 10-over quota with four wickets and an economy rate of 1.90. Santner took the other wicket, while Duffy and Smith both took two. We will return for more action after the innings break, with Fidel guiding you during the start of the second inning.
Navid: "@Avin, I agree with you. Theekshana and Vandersay can bat more sensibly than Hasaranga. He must understand that T20 is not ODI "
Abiran: "Hasarangas wicket is a beautiful example of what differentiates a great team from an average team. A lower order batsmen from one of the better teams (AUS, IND, ENG etc) would come in to that position and play according to the game. Best example? Cummins. It's not about better cricketing facilities, or coaching staff its about mindset. Learning to adapt. It's not just Hasaranga, look at how Avishka and Chamidu got out? Playing shots getting caught. Throwing a wicket when things were flowing"
Afeef: "Seeing "Malinga" mentioned over and over on comms is gonna bring a tear to my eye out of nostalgia."

Avin: "This has always been the issue with Hasaranga, he never bats according to the game situation. 10 more overs to go and you are the last recognised batter and still trying to mussle everything out the park after getting 3 boundaries in the previous over. "
