Max: "Let's be honest. Since drinks, the batting by NZ has been very poor. They didn't build on the excellent start. They have left, at least, 30 runs out there. "
Mark: "Well done SL, NZ was on track to get (and should have gotten) close to 300 or at least 270 but they did really well to pull this back. NZ are 20 odd short here but depends on how well they bowl first up"
Lasan Rashmika : "Eshan Malinga's opens his ODI wicket tally with Daryl Mitchell.Good Start for the youngster after a wicketless debut game"
7.20pm So Sri Lankan have done extremely well to pull things back at the death here. They gave away just 15 runs and picked up 4 wickets over the last three overs, as New Zealand who looked like threatening 300 at certain points in their innings, were restricted to under 260. Maheesh Theekshana, who had a difficult start, ended up with innings best figures of 4 for 44, while Wanindu Hasaranga grabbed 2 for 39. For the hosts the damage was done early by Rachin Ravindra (79 off 63) and Mark Chapman (62 off 52). They set the stage with a 112-run 2nd wicket stand, but while Daryl Mitchell (38 off 38) looked to build on it no other batters - aside from minor cameos from Glenn Phillips and Mitchell Santner - were able to support him. It meant New Zealand still ended up on an imposing 255 - one they would have taken at the start of the game, but still well below what they would have been eyeing. We should be back for the chase in about 30 minutes or so, Rvel will be with you for that.
