Oh what excellent bowling from Lyon. This pitch has given him bounce, and his overspin has exploited the conditions beautifully. Remember when he ran through India in the dying moments of the Adelaide Test? His bowling today has had that kind of rhythm all through day one. Lovely dip, bounce, and extracting every bit of turn from the pitch. Excellent Test-match bowling from Australia as a unit even though Lyon has taken eight of them. He walks with the ball held high, soaking in the applause. Have Australia done enough to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy? They wouldn't want to get ahead of themselves. There is turn in this pitch, and they will want a lead of at least 100 runs. How can Ashwin and co. do with only 189 to defend? We will soon find out

Lyon to Sharma, OUT, Eight for Lyon. He will be on a hat-trick in the second innings. This is a lame No. 11 shot. He tries to defend a sharp offbreak, inside-edges it into the pad, and short leg takes a sitter

Lyon to Rahul, OUT, Lyon gets seven. Rahul is desperate now, and he tries an unlikely shot. Looks to cover-drive this spitting offbreak, and ends up double-hitting it to mid-off. The ball hits the top of the bat and gets another whack from the toe as the bat completes it follow-through. He has played really well, but he has been stranded and has had to play low-percentage cricket of late. Gets a standing ovation from the home crowd
