Sam McCool: "That innings certainly ebbed and flowed. First of all England dined out like a rat in a cheese shop before NZ clawed their way back into the match only for Curran to play a great little cameo. After the start England will be disappointed. Game on"
Samraat : "England have got Ridiculous batting depth. Most team would have folded for 290-300 after that stunning collapse. momentum with england woulds say"
Brad P: "I hope I eat my own words and we go into a series decider but I think that over might be the telling one. 18 runs plus as mentioned is a bit of a boost in momentum to England"
Andre H: "Gotta love cricket. NZ choose to bowl for early wickets. England smash it. NZ fans pulling hair out. England collapse. English fans pulling hair out. Pitch seems irrelevant. And still the second innings to come!
Sim: "Curran currently averaging 70, boy this England team does bat deep"
Will: "Despite the collapse, this is still a pretty big score. I reckon NZ probably saved themselves about 45 runs.
Hamish: "Fantastic to see this fight from the blackcaps!! ASO often this summer the blackcaps have had it all their own way or just faded under any sort of pressure. Fantastic to see."
2:43pm Well, something to cheer in the end for England. Jonny Bairstow says they're happy with 335, but would've liked a little more. Of course they would have. Less than an hour ago, 380 looked minimum. New Zealand did superbly to pull it back, but they're slaves to their own average show at the start of this innings. Sloppy fielding and loose bowling allowed England to boss 75% of this innings. Roy started things off, Bairstow and Root put in a huge stand while getting centuries for themselves and have put England well in front despite the aberration in the end that saw them lose 8 for 68. We'll be back with the chase soon.
