4.30 pm The spells have worked too well but on the wrong target. It's stumps for Day 2. That means we will have an early start tomorrow - at 10 am local time. West Indies wouldn't mind this at all. Surely it would have been difficult for their batsmen to face the fast bowlers for a short period this morning. I will be back tomorrow, but let's hope the rain stays away. See you all. ciao ciao.
4.20 pm Covers on. It's time to check the magic spells to drive the rain away. ""Rain, rain, go away Come again some other day We want to go outside and play Come again some other day..." ---- usually works Fany, but we need some kickass one today.
Dirk gets criceative with his spell: "Forget the rain, bring on Steyn! Forget your snorkel, bring on Morkel!"
3.50 pm Covers are still on. Here's a trivia on South African innings - this is the second time SA have scored 550 after losing their top three inside 100 runs. The only other time they did this was against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi in 2010, when they were down 3 wickets for 33 and then recovered to post a total of 584.
Also, the last time South Africa played here at the Supersport park, a certain Mitchell Johnson consigned them to this loss.
Stuart: "Windies no doubt hoping this rain lasts a bit longer... 3 or 4 days if possible"
More injury worries for West Indies..
UPDATE: Assad Fudadin ruled out of ongoing Series due to injury. He suffered a fracture of little finger on right hand during warm-ups

3.30 pm Still raining pretty heavy at the Supersport park. It will be a while before this clears up. But encouraging news from LuckyLeon who says, "Rain has cleared up in Johannesburg that moves towards Centurion. Sun is breaking through at parts now too. Think we will see some more cricket today!"
Eddie Simes: "Rain has cleared up here in Midrand, it's halfway between Joburg and Centurion. So hopefully it will resume soon." ----- This map would give us all a fair idea of the local georgraphy. The traffic seems to be moving real slow around Midrand but I guess the clouds are not taking that route.
3.15 pm The covers are still on as it is pouring, fairly hard.. That means we will have a longer break here. Don't feel low though, I will keep updating you on the news. We should have a game soon today. Meanwhile, I have got this track playing in the background here. Quite peppy it is.
"It's raining pretty hard here in Centurion now. I think that's the game for today. Rain clouds for miles, so it won't get much better. And if it does, bad light will probably prevent play anyway." ---- I am staying put, Dewald Nel.
2.50 pm Dark clouds on one side, sun shine from the other side.. lights are on..The umpires are going away for Tea as the groundstaff wants to be prepared for the downpour (if it arrives). Covers are on.
Stephen B: "If rain was on its way, why did the Saffers declare? Surely they could have batted another 5-10 minutes and then declared at the rain/tea break?"
Dugald: "@ Spephen B: Surely Amla didn't know it was going to rain in next 10min. Ever asked yourself why you didn't leave your friends place 10min prior to the rain? "
2.38 pm Declaration Both batsmen have made a dash to the dressing room though as # has declared the innings. Superb batting from South Africa after they were 57 for 3 at one stage. Amla completed a double, AB missed out and Van Zyl made a century on debut.. what more can you ask? West Indies have been flat in the field though and now face the task of surviving against some top bowlers here..and too under grey skies.
JA: "AB missed out with 152? I hope he misses outlike that every innings!"
Wikus: "Well done Striaan, seems like another great potential young talent for SA. #goSA"
Brendan: "The ground is really living up to its name. "

Ishant: "Looking at Amla's top 5 scores, each of them against different oppositions, different venues and in 4 different countries and all in different climatic and pitch conditions, shows the quality of the man. Awesome #Hash #whaddddaaaplayer"
