3:04pm Everything looks different now! Williamson's decision to bowl first on what is evidently a batting paradise might have been punished by a team with more resolve after making a good start. But Wagner took any resolve West Indies had, chucked it into the turf, and crushed it like a cigarette butt repeatedly. A half-century stand for the opening wicket completely undone by aggressive fast bowling that has given him second-best figures by a New Zealander against West Indies, behind Chris Cairns' 7-27 in Hamilton, 1999. New Zealand now have about 40 overs of batting on the very first day after electing to field.

Wagner to Gabriel, OUT, taken at second slip and that's a new career-best for Neil Wagner. He's terrorised the batsmen today. Another one sits on the back foot and pays the price. This is short, angled across off. He's backing away a touch and sticks the bat out away from hso body. Thick edge, taken cleanly with a squat and a reverse cup

andrew: "I'd say Wagner has has more wickets from short balls than anyother bowler in the last 3 years or so. That makes him the best exponent by my books. He isn't as scary as a Mitchell Johnson but by cheeses hes effective."

Wagner to Roach, no run, good length at leg stump. Flicks straight to backward short leg who gestures a throw but doesn't release the ball. Roach had to make some ground after taking off for a run instinticvely, that might have been close

Wagner to Gabriel, 1 run, another brute but this time he manages to find bat. Unfortunately for him, it lobs over the slip cordon. Bouncer at his chest. He takes the bottom hand off and sways backwards with no control

Wagner to Gabriel, no run, Williamson reviews a caught-behind decision. Blundell took the catch and leaped straight away as he chucked the ball upwards. It was a short one at his mid-riff. He was looking to flick this and it went through, seemingly past the outside edge. There was no sound...and Snicko shows no spike either. That's not out

James: "@Matt No Wagner isn't the best exponent of bouncers and short pitch bowling, rather I see him as the most tenacious exponent of it. Where as Starc and Cummins may bowl short to the tail consistently, Wagner bowls short to everyone and for an extended period of time."
