5.15pm India finish with exactly 280 for 8, a score they'll be more than pleased with after the first third of the innings. It was set up by a special innings from Virat Kohli, whose 31st ODI ton, gave India a score they can be happy with, especially considering the heat and the slowness of the surface.

But India were put under severe pressure by the skill of Trent Boult, who registered the best ODI figures by a New Zealand bowler in India. New Zealand were disciplined right through the innings, they rarely gave too much to India to hit, made them do their thing, which was possibly the difference between a 300 score. It's going to be a tough chase, India well ahead, we'll be back for the chase soon.

Trent Boult: "New ball pretty crucial on this surface, the heat was the main issue, a big ask to bowl with intensity. We put a lot of pressure on them. Wickets at the top of the innings is what any team needs, expected some more swing with the heat. We tried to use the pitch, bang it in a bit."

Southee to Kumar, OUT, lovely catch to finish, 131 kph. Another short delivery on leg, Bhuvneshwar gets underneath the length but not enough power, pulls away towards deep midwicket, where Nicholls dives in front to take a great catch. 16 runs and two wickets off the over.

Southee to Kumar, SIX, maaaaasive. Too predictable is Southee, another short, slow legbreak, it sits up for Bhuvi to hammer over midwicket, such good timing and power behind that

Sam: "India's been yearning for a fast bowling all-rounder and now theyve got 2! Bhuvi's cameo here might just take India to a winning score tonight!"

Southee to Kumar, FOUR, four more. Another bouncer, maybe predictable, Bhuvi gets underneath the length and pulls over short fine leg for four.

Southee to Kohli, OUT, six and out. But he's done his job, much more actually. It's shortish around off, Kohli uses his bottom hand to swing through the line, the ball lobs to long-on, where Boult takes a simple catch. A tired acknowledgement of the applause, what fitness, superb innings

Southee to Kohli, SIX, shot of the day. Shot of the year. Wow, full around off, not too full, not too short. Kohli somehow makes room by clearing his front leg and then whips his hands through the ball, hits the ball dead straight and it hits the press box. That is an unbelievable hit, how did he get so much power behind that?

Last over. Southee to finish
