A bat with a mid-20 avg and a bowler who took less than 2 wickets per match didn't warrant a place in the team, much less as captain. He was viewed as a new Sammy who needed to gel the team and be a "yes-man" to the CWI. His game however has improved leaps and bounds, and his captaincy is more confident and strategic."
