8.35pm Favourite format, but the same-old drab batting show by West Indies. Playing poor shots was just one aspect of their failure, comical running and lack of match awareness being the other. Criminal considering they play so much T20 cricket worldwide. It all started with a puzzling strategy at the top - the decision to open with Hope and Ramdin. Nothing went right from there.

For India, Krunal had a dream debut. Restrictive with his lengths, he made run scoring really hard and was rewarded with the wicket of his IPL mate Kieron Pollard. Bumrah was superb as always, and Khaleel's T20 initiation was mighty impressive too. The only bowler to have an off day was Umesh. Kuldeep, well, he did what he normally does. And at a ground he knows like the back of his hand. His spell didn't allow West Indies' recovery at all. This should be a stroll for India, unless West Indies come in with some fire. Can they make a match of this? Saurabh Somani will be with you when play resumes.

Krunal Pandya: "It was a great feeling, proud feeling to get the India cap because you dream of it from childhood. The feeling of stepping in as an India player is different, it's a great feeling. It was great to get Kieron Pollard's wicket, he's a very good friend of mine, I can say brother. I will definitely tease him when I meet him. This was a great team bowling effort to restrict a power-hitting team. It's time for the batters to do their job."

Bumrah to Pierre, FOUR, sliced over the infield to beat point and short third man running back. Once it lands on the practice pitches, there's no stopping that.

Siddhesh V: "Worrying that death bowling remains a problem for Umesh even with the opponent 8 down. Unless he can improve on his execution, he really shouldn't be saved for the death overs."

Bumrah to Pierre, no run, swing and a miss. Another slower ball angling away, played too early.

Goodman: "Khaleel has outbowled Umesh in this match thereby strengthening his case as a 3rd seam option." -- Hello MSK

Bumrah to Paul, 1 run, tries the helicopter shot, this goes all along the ground to wide long-on.

Bumrah to Paul, no run, this is much fuller in length, once again angling in but he backed away and looked to slog. Head fell away, in no position. Beaten again.

Bumrah to Paul, no run, slower length ball way outside off, steps out to hoick but played too early.

Bumrah to Pierre, 1 run, squeezes this to midwicket, an overthrow at the bowler's end gives them a run

Mid-off inside the ring.

Yadav to Paul, FOUR, slips a full toss down leg and he's swung this to the deep backward square leg boundary. Very very poor from Umesh. No excuses to deliver full tosses at this stage even if there may be dew.

Yadav to Paul, FOUR, this is poor from Umesh. Bangs one in short, this was bowled at a friendly pace too and he fetched it from outside off to pull him imperiously to the square leg boundary.

2
Yadav to Paul, 2 runs, belted so hard that Umesh's face was on the firing line, somehow managed to get out of the way. Down to long-off.

Yadav to Pierre, 1 leg bye, deflects off the thigh pad to square leg. Beaten for pace as he looked to whip it square.

Yadav to Pierre, FOUR, thick outside edge as he looked to steer this behind point, beat DK's full-length dive to his left and races to the third man boundary.

Ahmed to Allen, OUT, muscled away but straight down Umesh's throat at deep midwicket. Khaleel's first T20I wicket. This was another cutter, Allen picked the length early and the intention was right in trying to pull, but it was almost as if he didn't realise there was a fielder right there at the ropes.

Ahmed to Allen, no run, slants this length ball across, he looks to use the room to slap this over point but is beaten because he played too early.

Ahmed to Allen, FOUR, swings north, ball goes south. Looked for an ugly hoick to this length ball over mid-on but ended up slicing this off a thick outside edge to beat short third man.

1
Ahmed to Paul, 1 run, he's picked the bones out of this slower length ball, but on the bounce to Umesh at deep midwicket. A meter on either side and it would've been four.

Ahmed to Allen, 1 run, too early into the slog, thick inside edge onto the pad as the ball rolls to the off side.

Pootti Nairuk has an idea: "India should open their batting with Rahul and Pant today ... they have been brilliant in the IPL, and Rohit+Dhawan have nothing to prove."

Ahmed to Allen, no run, slower length ball angled across, Allen swung through early, beaten.

Bumrah to Paul, no run, slips in a yorker that hits him on the pad, but this was sliding down leg.

Bumrah to Allen, 3 runs, right into the blockole, squeezed down towards Pandey, who puts in a superb dive at long-on to cut that off. Dhawan was inside the ring, but didn't bother running back. So Pandey had to recover quickly and then fire the throw, instead of just relaying it to Dhawan had he run back.

West Indies' lowest three scores in T20Is is 60, 79/7 and 96/9

2
Bumrah to Allen, 2 runs, swung across the line, top-edges this so high but falls short of Pandey coming in from long-on.
