5.17 pm Well, that happened. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul hit hundreds, all while batting well within themselves, all while playing very correct cricket shots. West Indies did the best they could to control the run-rate, to tighten things that might push the batsmen into a corner and make a mistake. But India just know how to pace a one-day innings, know it in their blood and they just wouldn't succumb.
Eventually, with around 20 overs left to play, both Rohit and Rahul began to play trick shots; Rohit hit a six in the middle of a faceplant. Rahul fell soon after his hundred. His partner fell, for a whopping 159. But India were able to keep going thanks to two players who should dominate the line-up for years to come. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer were epic finishers; there was a two over spell where they scored 55 runs and took the total into record-breaking realms. If West Indies have to win this game and with it the series, they'll have to put on the highest chase ever seen in this country
"Very happy. Been playing well for the lst couple of months. Went back and played first class cricket got runs behind him and so very happy I could continue in that same form," Rahul says. "I got the opportunity to bat up the order in a place where I'm comfortable. It's where I feel I can play my best. Just wanted to make it count. I'm very clear about what I have to do, what role I play and I just want to do my best. [Celebration putting hands in your ear?] I'll let it stay a mystery. Initially we gave ourselves time, three four overs, then we figured out what a good total was and we paced it that way. It's not always that both of us get going from ball one. Today was my day, fortunately it came off today. All these conversations are mostly tactical, who's feeling good, who's comfortable against which bowler. That sort of stuff."

Rajeesh Nair: "Putting up 387 in an ODI match and that too without Virat scoring a single run talks a lot about Indian batting line up. Even in the previous ODI, India reached a respectable total, thanks to Pant and Iyer p'ship and they repeated the same in this game as well. Yes, Rohit and Rahul stood out but India will be happy with the last two performances of Pant and Iyer. "
Arijit: "Irony is starting off as the highest strike rate in the first 15 overs and ending up with the lowest strike rate among all batsmen #Rahul.. superb innings nonetheless.. hands down"
Rahul Sargam: "Enough runs on the scoreboard. A lot of Pace variations coming your way, I wouldn't surprise. when it comes to West indies and there chasing, they have to be pretty smart like Shai was in the last innings, they can't go for hit every now and then, have to be patient, need to make partnerships and stay as long as possible. Considering the West indies power hitting mindset, I believe they will do the same mistakes and India will win this match more than 100 runs. "
