8.37pm That's a good score on this pitch, thanks to Kusal Mendis' leg-side hitting and the last-over heroics from Udana. Mendis looked really fluent and was hitting cleanly from the beginning, collecting 68 of his 79 runs on the leg side. With Dickwella for company, he took Sri Lanka towards 150 before Shanaka and Udana made sure they got more than 170. Santner and Southee pulled things back in phases with their speed variations and accuracy, but the late hitting from Sri Lanka wouldn't please the visitors. Ankur and New Zealand will begin the chase soon...

Kusal Mendis: Happy with my individual score and even setting them 175 on this wicket. KJ [Perera] gave me good support for first six overs, and after that I took singles to score. There might be little bit turn and we have lot of fast bowlers, so the score is good for this wicket.

Rance to Udana, 3 runs, he swings for the full toss again, gets a leading edge towards long-off for two. Oh hang on, Southee throws the ball to the keeper who slips before collecting the ball and they concede an overthrow too

Rance to Udana, SIX, bigger this time and clears long-on easily. Slower ball on off stump, he tonks that again, this time it's a cleaner hit and long-on can't even try this time around. The crowd erupts

6
Rance to Udana, SIX, just over long-on for six! Rance went for the block hole and was slightly inaccurate with the wobbly seam, Udana is accurate though and accurate enough to loft that just over long-on's right arm

Isuru Udana on strike

W
Rance to Shanaka, OUT, direct hit from Seifert sends Dickwella back. It was right in the block hole and the ball sneaked through the gap between Shanaka and the stumps. They went for the single and Seifert got the stumps

W
Southee to Mendis, OUT, superb catch in the deep from Guptill. The slower ball was in the slot for Mendis, he picked it up and lofted it high on leg, but Guptill judged it very well to stay inside the deep midwicket boundary and even dive backwards to grab it with both hands
