3.59pm: Right, then. Where were we? Time enough in the day for India to begin their chase, that's where. Probably 4-5 overs, once they get back out there. This has been India's day - they began it 134 runs behind with three wickets standing, and now have a target below 200 to take the spoils - but you'd imagine those runs will take some getting on a capricious Ranchi deck. England, by the way, lost 5 for 25 in 21 overs after tea, as the air went slowly out of their balloon. Can Ben Stokes rally his troops, and particular his young spin attack, to keep the series alive? We'll start to get some answers shortly

Ashwin to Anderson, OUT, goes for the reverse-sweep, Jurel snaffles the ball! Not quite sure how it ended up in his gloves but Rod Tucker's finger goes up. England are cooked for less than 150, and India's target will be 192 to claim the match and the series. This was great work from the keeper, as the ball ricocheted off Anderson's hip and then the back of the bat - a reaction grab with one hand to finish things for India. Ashwin walks off with a five-for, too

Ashwin to Anderson, no run, round the wicket, pushed through on fourth stump and defended

In walks James Anderson. Just a slip and short leg still

Sonny, you might want to mute your mentions

Ashwin to Foakes, OUT, gottim, chipped straight back! Foakes' tortoise race is run, failing to pick the carrom ball as he works across the line. Flicked out beautifully and it spins away to take the leading edge, a simple catch for the bowler. Ashwin does the job for his captain and we are almost at the endgame

"Can't help but feel this is a really flawed plan for India," muses Sonny. "Foakes has one of the best defences in the England side and almost endless patience. Looking for a magic ball and giving one ball at Bashir while they creep closer to 200 is creating a rod for their own backs"

Ashwin to Foakes, no run, tossed up full outside off, Foakes clips it away to deep midwicket for no run

Slip and short leg for Ashwin to Foakes

Kuldeep Yadav to Shoaib Bashir, no run, tossed up and defended calmly going back on leg stump

Four men around the bat now

Has the pitch gone to sleep again? Do India not fancy batting tonight? Who knows, this Test has been hard to fathom from the outset

Kuldeep Yadav to Foakes, no run, length ball spinning from middle to leg, jabbed away to the midwicket sweeper

Kuldeep into a 15th over. India slowing things down - and Kumar Dharmasena is telling them to get on with it

Here's Richard, with his hammer and nails: "'Foakes is backing his method'… the essence of Bazball: be who you are. And if you aren't sure who you are, here's the opportunity to find out..."

Ashwin to Foakes, 1 run, and they can't prevent Foakes keeping the strike, either. Darted on the pads and he clips to long-on

"Are we missing Bumrah's yorkers here?" Whatever we're doing, in all walks of life, we're always missing Bumrah's yorkers, Milind

Ashwin to Foakes, no run, pushed through, Foakes reverse-sweeps, hit on the pad - and given! He reviews, but looks a goner unless there was glove. Taking some time to bring up UltraEdge. Ah ha, there's a spike as it passes the bottom edge. So Rod Tucker's decision is overturned

Lots of tinkering with the field. Still very spread out, no slip now

"Should Foakes not try to hit and get a few runs - sooner or later he or Bashir is going to get a ball with their name on it?" Foakes is backing his method here, Andy Jackson. Worked for him in the first innings

Kuldeep Yadav to Shoaib Bashir, no run, turns appreciably down leg, there's an excited appeal for an edge... Less interest in a review. Well taken by Jurel, looks like it came off the pad

Slip, short leg and silly point

"@ Alan, Bazball goes for a sleep when it is badly needed. Threatens more than it delivers. Still, match not over though... anything above 200 gives England a chance." You said it, Muthukumaran Su. Bazball seems to be going okay in India to me

Kuldeep Yadav to Foakes, no run, lobbed up outside off from over the wicket, stays down a touch. Foakes is back and across to defend

Kuldeep continues. England have scored just a single off each of the last seven overs

Evening all. So much for Bazball, more like Zzzzball - amirite?? Joking aside, this is currently a bit of a stalemate, though every run (and every minute longer for the pitch to potentially deteriorate) will stiffen India's challenge when we get to the fourth innings
