4pm Alright, that's it from the Gabba. India, with the help of the weather, have drawn this and the two teams will go to the Boxing Day Test with the score level. We have seen plenty of exciting cricket, and a shocking retirement. Quite a last day, honestly! That will be all from us. It's Abhimanyu signing off on behalf of Alex Malcolm and Thilak Ram. See you all in Melbourne!
3.50pm BREAKING: R Ashwin announces retirement from international cricket. He just announced at the press conference that this is his "last day as an Indian cricketer". More details here.
Alex: "Ashwin's announcement to retire and leave in the middle of this series is shocking."
Prasanna S: "Ashwin doing it in Dhoni's style. Unexpected all of a sudden as Dhoni did it in 2014 after MCG test. We will miss him a lot feel he still had 2 - 3 years of cricket left in him. Thanks Ashwin for all the memories !! "
3.40pm Time for the presentation
Pat Cummins: "How the guys played, 450-odd was a good total. [On Hazlewood's injury making it difficult] Yeah it does, poor Joshy. It's one of those things. Maybe the few rain breaks helped us a little bit but it's one of those things when you're trying to win a Test match, whatever it takes. Particularly when the ball was hard, it was quite a handful. Smithy and Trav's innings were fantastic. Carey as well. Nath[an Lyon] looked really good yesterday, Starcy got a lot of wickets."
Rohit Sharma: "Obviously to have interruptions like that wasn't great, but going to Melbourne at 1-1 is great and gives confidence that we can go to Melbourne and pull something off there. The situation were in just after lunch, we wanted someone to stand up and take the game through. Keeping in mind the weather, we knew it wasn't going to be a full gajne, so credit to Jadeja, and not to forget Rahul at the top as well. And it was great to watch these guys to go out there and do their thing. And with the ball we were very good, especially Bumrah. Akash is a feisty character, he has superb talent. He is new to international cricket, but games like this can teach him so many things. And there are a couple of guys in the group who can put their arms around him and help him."
Travis Head is the player of the match: "Challenging wicket. I had to work through the gears. I had different plans, pleased I could get through those. Good partnership with Smit. I just try to sum up the conditions well. What I've done well this series is assess the conditions. Pleased with the tempo I've batted with. Pretty relaxed communication. Felt like he was back in his rhythm, and he gives me full freedom and confidence knowing he's going to be there for a long while. I feel like I am playing the situation in front of me. Very pleased with the way I am batting at the moment."
3.35pm Thanks Alex. The series is now interestingly poised, with the teams heading to Melbourne at 1-1. Australia must be feeling a bit hard done by. After that dominant day two performance, and then blowing through India's batting lineup on day three, they were in pole position to seal the W, but instead have to settle for the draw. India, I am sure, won't be complaining at all.
Nids: "If someone is injured during the game, they can do like-to-like replacement isn't it? Why they didn't put Boland to bowl when Joshy is ruled out during the game?" That's only for concussion.
3.25pm Looks like the Australian staff are shaking hands so that might be it. And now both teams are shaking hands in the rooms. The Test is over. It ends in a draw. The series is level at 1-1 with two Tests left.
Abhimanyu will come in for the presentation.
3.17pm Gnasher, the hardest working man in cricket, with more bad news: "Lightning warning now."
Mangesh Shinde: "It's a no brainer, rains have saved India, here. If only Smith had hold on for that KL nick, Australia could've bowled around 50-60 overs by now to india following on." Feels like a big moment in the game. Still would have been hard to take 20 wickets with only three specialist bowlers.
Kalyanaraman: "@Alex, has this frenzied hitting done any good to the Australian batters, who have been fighting for form, like Khawaja, Marsh or coming into form, like Smith or Labuschagne ? would that have damaged their confidence?" I very much doubt it helps anyone. But I'm sure they will talk internally about how it was selfless and team oriented, and to treat it as an isolated innings in unique circumstances. Whether that's true or not depends on your mindset.
3.10pm It's still raining. And it will keep raining for awhile.
Venk: "Who does the rain saved? Aus or Ind" Interesting debate. You could cut it a number of ways. But rain is definitely the winner.
Prasanna S: "Well done groundsmen. They are the men of the match for me. Sometimes they never get their dues let's celebrate them. "
Bhavya : "who will be POTM? Bumrah? Head? " Decent question Bhavya. Bumrah's batting might get him over the line?
NH: "Brisbane Gabbatoir becomes Brisbane Gaquatic Centre, just in time for the Olympics! "
3pm It's raining heavily now.
Aditya: "So.. what's our friendly local weatherman (Gnasher) going to do in this extended spell of rain?" Work exceptionally hard post-match. As he has throughout the match and his distinguished ESPNCricinfo career.
Ryan: "Well if that's it, then well done firstly to the ground staff for ensuring as much play as possible over these frustrating 5 days, and to both teams for some great cricket. A disappointing draw? Yes. A dull draw? No."
2.56pm There's no play post tea at the moment. It is about to rain very heavily and for a long time. There won't be another ball bowled in the game. The covers have been nailed down.
KK: "You paint a gory pessimistic picture, Alex." I wish I could say otherwise KK.
Tejas: "Why don't the teams just call the game off, go to the hotel and relax? Why this waste of time?" I'm sure a few players would love an early beer.

2.11pm Australia have declared! So India have to Bumrah finishes with nine wickets for the match. Cameos from Head, Carey and Cummins have helped Australia set India a target of 275 as they push for a win We don't know how long Australia have to try and get ten wickets (with a bowler short), with rain on the radar. How will India approach this? India's batters against the new ball will be an interesting battle to see, regardless of how the match ends.
Gnasher chips in with a stat nugget: "Australia's three lowest declared totals have all come at the Gabba."
GARUDA: "If Lenin followed cricket, he'd say "There are days when nothing happens.. Then there are sessions where days happen""
Rain is not far away, Gnasher warns me. "Will be heavy"
PJ Cummins c Rahul b Bumrah 22 (12m 10b 2x4 2x6) SR: 220.00
Bumrah returns. Change of ends for him. He is also having the umpire check the ball once. Which seems fine. Hazlewood, meanwhile, is having a chat with Andrew McDonald outside the boundary rope
