And as the two captains together lift the series trophy which is shared 1-1, it is also time for us to say goodbye on ESPNcricinfo. Thank you for your company, fans. On behalf of everyone over here, this is Sreshth saying bye bye!
4.50pm Time for the presentation. Let's here from some key people.
Taijul Islam is the Player of the Match for his six wickets and some useful runs across two innings: "This win was in unfamiliar conditions. Everyone gave a good effort and the boys were dedicated to getting the win. (The bowling attack now) The pace and spin attack we have, we've been playing well, everyone's in good rhythm, so definitely we can compete against any batting attack."
Taskin Ahmed (11 wkts) and Jayden Seales (10 wkts) are shared Player-of-the-Series award winners: Taskin says, "I'm really happy for this. Glad to come back to Test cricket because I had a bad shoulder. It wasn't easy to get a comeback. It is paying off. Especially last three years you can see our fast bowling side is improving. We are working together to work every series. We are working really hard. Because of the processes we are following, we are getting better. Hopefully in a few years we'll have more pace bowlers. I enjoyed the battle, after the game we are all friends." Jayden says, "I was happy to control my length and put pressure on the batsmen. It was something I was working from the England series, then South Africa, and now. Test cricket is tough and you want to have fun. Sometimes you have to get in the batsmen's face, I look forward to it even if I know that the batters can also be aggressive. Grew up like this so enjoy it."
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Bangladesh stand-in captain: We have played so many years of Test cricket, almost 25 years, so this was enjoyable. We need to keep improving in certain areas. We always talked about our boys and how we have to win this game. We were not thinking negatively despite being 164 all out. The boys bowled especially well. Nahid in the first innings, Taskin and Hasan Mahmud. Second-innings specialist Taijul got five wickets. He was excellent. He has been very good for the last ten years, more than 200 wickets for us. Fast bowling has been all about the process. Tanzim Sakib is also there. We have good fast bowlers at the moment. We think about how to improve in internationals, sometimes we'll make mistakes but we'll learn from that.
Kraigg Brathwaite, WI captain: "We wanted to be positive in the chase. I thought we started well. (Batting in 2024 for WI) Not at the level we know we can be. Young guys, in terms of playing Test cricket, and obviously it is important to learn as you play. But in pressure situations it is about executing better. Our execution could be a lot pressure in terms of our batting, during attacking shots especially. Once we get that right, this group can do great things with the bat. As a group, having intent in both innings is something we need to improve. When setting or when chasing. (Positives) Justin Greaves getting his first hundred. Unfortunate for Alick and Mikyle to not get theirs. Jayden's bowling for so few runs was truly amazing. For the batting group, we need consistency. Consistency in hard work as well. I believe we have the talent."
For West Indies, this is a disappointing end to the series. They conceded an 18-run first-innings lead yesterday, and after that, the Bangladesh third-innings batting performance left them needing too much on a deteriorating surface. Not much to write home, batting wise, except Hodge's 55 and Brathwaite's batting across both innings. Seales, Shamar, Alzarri, Roach were all impressive except for a brief period on the day-three afternoon where Bangladesh punished the hosts for some predictable, angry bowling that lacked much of a plan.
Taskin Ahmed finishes with 11 wickets in two Tests at a sub-18 bowling average to finish as the most successful bowler of the series. He wears a wide grin and looks cool with his sunnies on his walk back up to the pavilion. He was one of many contributors in Bangladesh's series-equalling win: Shadman Islam, Jaker Ali, Taijul Islam, Nahid Rana, Mehidy himself, and Shahadat Hossain the others.
This is Bangladesh without Shakib, Mushfiqur and Tamim. Also without Najmul Hossain Shanto. Mehidy in just his second Test as captain has pulled off a convincing victory over the hosts. The team is now in a huddle with Taijul Islam leading the conversation.
Joy: "For the interested ones, the last ball was at 143 kmph."
4.42pm A big roar from Mehidy Hasan Miraz and the rest of the fielders as the final wicket fell. They're overjoyed and why shouldn't they be? A terrific comeback in the series after losing the first game and then being skittled for 164 in the first innings. The umpires have a short chat with Mehidy after the game, following which Mehidy leads the Bangladesh fielders out of the ground, with handshakes between the two sides.
Bangladesh now have more away wins in West Indies (three) than any other country. They have two wins in Pakistan and Zimbabwe and one each in New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
