Sydney : "I honestly think England will win this. Bat taday and tomorrow and set a target of more than 180 and it's done"
Pratik : "Ben Stokes is undoubtedly the MVP of this decade."
Sarat: "10 odd overs to play under sun is wat Eng openers prefer, than playing on a fresh day with overcast conditions"
corniel seddon: "I think the only safe assumption I can make from what I have witnessed so far: is that the second half of this test will be very entertaining. There will definitely be a result with the West Indies being relatively firm favourites at this point of the match."
James Wilson: "Wood has bowled very well for only 1 wicket and an average economy - little reward for his hard work. Reminds me of Mo Shami in the Oval test 2018"
Dean: "Opening partnership will be lucky to survive 15 balls haha... Seems a long time since the days of Cook and Strauss!!! Will be very surprised if the openers are still there at the close of play! "

6:09pm, Innings break So West Indies go 114 ahead and will have about 40 minutes at England this evening. Just like the 30-run last wicket stand might have soured the taste at the end yesterday, they might feel a little short here. Couldn't get too many of their lower-order stands going today, but this is still a very good position to be in. 114 is an advantage you accept with both hands in any Test. Got the best of the batting conditions so far in this Test and put it to use. England get their shot now, who knows what awaits tomorrow, sky-wise? No one really found any swing today, so this could be a little more hard work than the first innings for West Indies. We'll see shortly.

Wood to Gabriel, OUT, boom. 90mph heat from Wood has finally resulted in a wicket, and a picturesque one at that. Middle stump knocked right out as Gabriel looks to cart this into the midwicket boundary

ST Gabriel b Wood 4 (6m 5b 1x4 0x6) SR: 80.00

Duncan Ward: "I think (hope?) gritty start from Burns and co, to lay a foundation with Stokes and Pope to take it away from the Windows late tomorrow, the fast bowlers to come good in the 4th innings and blow them away..."

1
Wood to Roach, 1 run, uff, stinger up at the helmet again. Takes his eyes off, takes the bottom hand off as well, and manages to turn this into the leg side off his glove

Fred: "Time for Roach and Gabriel to run through that England top order before close of play. Drinks starting to flow already down here in the Caribbean"

Wood to Roach, no run, banged into a length outside off, past the outside edge as he looks to push at that
101.3
0
Wood to Roach, no run, short of a length on off stump, solidly behind the line to defend that

Wood to Roach, no run, short of a length outside off, has a big swat at that and gets an inside edge onto body
101.1
0
Wood to Roach, no run, short and down leg side, not getting bat on that

Brian Weidy: "Every single time I see Stokes play, I walk away more and more impressed. From Bristol to today has been nothing short of revelatory."

AussieBren: "Going to be THAT Australian and say England will be four down before the end of the day." --- That = Every?
Tushar: "Unpopular opinion but I don't think this lead is enough just yet. I smell a Stokes comeback as long as WI don't cross a lead of more than 150, especially with Dowrich now out of the picture"

Stokes to Gabriel, no run, bouncer up at the lid and he just manages to sway out of the line

Stokes to Gabriel, no run, short and down leg side, left alone

Matt M: "Credit to Stokes for leading from the front, with bat and ball. Having said that, Holder's 6-for looks titanic..."

Stokes to Gabriel, FOUR, there it is! Full ball floated up outside off. Keeps the front leg out of the way and slugs this over mid-on. then flashes a smile. This is what peak performance looks like

Boooo Shannon, give us a swing....

Stokes to Gabriel, no run, length outside off, defended on the front foot

Here is Gabriel now. Batting to stumps probably not the agenda anymore. Let's hope not anyway, bring out the slogs!

W
Stokes to Dowrich, OUT, strangled down leg side, and he walks! Short of a length at a leg stump line. He skips into the off side to make room for a swish down leg. Gets a thin edge and Buttler's still got it in his legs to jump across and grab that. Dowrich came in at a time where one wicket could have pulled England back in. He's more than done his part since. Superb innings to start off the Test series for him

SO Dowrich c †Buttler b Stokes 61 (181m 115b 8x4 0x6) SR: 53.04

Stokes to Dowrich, FOUR, more third man related agony for Stokes. Short of a length in the corridor, allows it to come on and steers it into the ground to beat second slip

Rajiv S: "Sobers,Botham, Kapil, Kallis and Vettori... What an elite list to join for Ben Stokes.. Only these 6 have 4000+ runs and 150+ test wickets...

Wood to Dowrich, 3 runs, neatly put away and a reluctant chase from mid-off. West Indies will get three at the end of it as he pulls it back in, Dworich will keep strike. Full ball and he hung deep in the crease while driving. Slightly off the low part of the bat
