9:02pm Early finish tonight! Back it and go again tomorrow for our twin double-headers. Night!

8:59pm Right, formalities here we go - Adil Rashid is the Meerkat Match Hero: "We're fortunate we got the runs in time as well, because the rain came 10 balls after that.

"I think we've got a very good squad. good batters, match winners all the way through. We've got a bit of a waitng game tomorrow and Thursday. but hopefully one of those two teams do lose and we're good Today, I put in a nice performance, taking three wickets."

8:55pm So the victory moves Superchargers into second on 11 points, played all their matches with Southern Brave and Birmingham Phoenix, both on 10, yet to play their final games. Superchargers need a favour from Welsh Fire (who play Brave tomorrow) or Manchester Originals (who play Phoenix on Thursday).

8:49pm Finally... match abandoned! Northern Superchargers win! London Spirit's season ends in bleak fashion, which is sort of no less than their performances have deserved, old time, particularly with the bat.

8:46pm They need to be playing by 9:31pm here, otherwise this is off. And it's heavier rain now...

8:40pm Auxiliary covers coming on now - i.e. the sheets that cover the important bits around the pitch, like the run-ups and square. I'll be honest, looks like we're done here. Just awaiting official confirmation...

8:38pmYep. covers coming on now as the players charge off. We've got about 15 minutes to play with. Crucially, if we get no more play, Superchargers get the two points

END OF OVER:

  • Matthew Potts3.5-0-18-2
  • Pat Brown2.5-0-23-0

Adil Rashid on Sky suggests that it's a pretty good batting surface... which bodes well for the Superchargers. He's asked by Mike Atherton which googly wicket he preferred: "I'll take both." Classic Rashid. It should be an easy chase, and the Superchargers need to win to stay in the race for the knockouts. Vish will be here shortly to tell you if they can... but it looks gloomy overhead!

7.56pm: Another damp squib of a batting innings from London Spirit who have been miserably bad in the men's Hundred this season. Keaton Jennings got them off to a flying start but the rest of their top five managed 13 runs between them. Rashid cleaned up Critchley plus the big guns, Russell and Hetmyer, and it took that 49-run stand between Dawson and Bopara to give them anything to bowl at.

Potts to Stone, OUT, gets his wide yorker in as Stone shuffles across looking to flick it away past short fine leg. Pooran sticks out his left hand to stop it and flings it to Potts, who is at point-blank range when he gathers and rolls it into the stumps with Stone scrambling but well short

OP Stone run out 0 (1m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Stone walks out at No. 9.

Potts to Bopara, OUT, timber! Perfect yorker this time, 87mph, which sneaks under the toe of Bopara's bat and thuds into the base of middle and off stump. Potts waggles his finger at Brook as though to suggest this was a plan - admittedly a simpler one to devise than execute!

Potts to Bopara, FOUR, slower ball, in the slot, and smeared down the ground for four more! Holds his shape, swings hard, and launches his back over his head towards the pavilion

Potts to Dawson, FOUR, slower ball, clears the front leg and Dawson is rewarded for his attacking intent! Has a big swipe and gets a thick outside edge, which skews away past Topley at short third

Potts to return. Can Dawson get Spirit to 115?

Brown to Dawson, SIX, smoked down the ground for six! Brown has nailed a couple of yorkers but misses this one, just on the short side. Dawson is deep in his crease and launches the slot ball back over his head for a straight six
