9:18pm The Falcons began very shakily, losing two wickets in the first over itself. They could have lost another in that very over, and could have been four down in the powerplay, had Colombo held on to their chances. But like all good teams, the Falcons made the opposition pay for their mistakes. Bandara and Mendis consolidated, before Hasaranga grabbed the bull by the horns, launching a magnificent counter-attack.

The intent to keep pressing on the accelerator rattled the Stars and they could not recover. Their bowling plans were also not quite up to scratch. As the innings progressed, though, they were handed a lifeline, with the Falcons losing their way a little. But in the final over, they again lost the plot and let the Falcons get close to 170, and the Stars will be kicking themselves considering they had reduced them to 42-3 at one stage. In lieu of everything that has happened, you feel the Falcons might just be the happier of the two sides. Do join us in a bit for the run-chase!

Sanath Jayasuriya: I think it was an overdue knock (by Hasaranga). He came back and did it at the right time. When we most needed, he came and did it. As a captain, he took responsibility today. (On Nissanka dismissal) I asked him and he didn't realised he nicked it. It was a good comeback by the players. Bandara played a really good innings with Wanindu. It is a long way to go, even though we have 169 on the board. We have to bowl really well.
