Kusal Mendis: "Yeah really happy to score a hundred. I'm so happy to have performed well despite my recent form. The team has backed me 100% and I'm happy to repay the faith. The wicket was pretty good for batting, I played my own game when the wickets fell back to back - there was some pressure in the middle period, but I caught up at the end. I think pace variation is very important, and the spinners need to mind their lines and lengths."

9.02pm So Jaffna have ended on 187 for 7 with Kusal Mendis unbeaten on 105 off just 54 deliveries. He carried his bat through the innings and produced an outstanding innings just when his team needed it. Only three other batters got into double digits, but Azmatullah Omarzai's 26 off 13 proved crucial in pushing along Jaffna's total after the Kandy spinners had threatened to claw the game back late.
