Player of the Match
Player of the Match

10.25pm Well, that was fun. A full house, a full-throttle game. And Pakistan are off the mark with a scorching display in a run-laden evening. 433 runs in 39.2 overs. Yes please! From Miller, Danyal, Venkat and the rest of the team, goodnight!

Presentation coming up

The Player of the Match is Shaheen Shah Afridi for figures of 3 for 30 in 3.2 overs. High-scoring game, he says in Urdu, a good start by the batters put them in the position, then they bowled well. A short boundary, so using yorkers was important. We wanted to attack the batters and keep a positive mindset.

Where were you lacking, Eoin Morgan is asked? He seems taken aback: "When you look at the chase, only one of us got going in Liam Livingstone... it's a hell of a line-up in our changing room but it was Pakistan's day. There were a lot of positives, this ground replicates Sharjah where we might play World Cup games. We play a lot of cricket at Trent Bridge, we know it's high-scoring, but it's good to be under pressure to find out more about the team. Liam, an incredible knock, over the last six years as a group we've watched incredible knocks from Buttler, Roy, Ali, that was as good as any of them. Moeen and Liam will be in the middle order to try and score runs, that opportunity will continue, because it's about establishing guys before World Cup selection."

Babar Azam, who struggles to get a word in edgeways over the excitement of Pakistan's fans. Speaking in Urdu, he says how he switched his mindset for the format. He praises all his bowlers, they learnt from their mistakes in the ODIs, and fielded better today. They will carry this momentum forward and carry on playing this way.

22.10pm Gosh. Where do we start with that? Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan were superb in an opening stand of 150, before Pakistan's middle order all matched their 150-plus strike rate to post their record total of 232. They had a record 12 sixes to that tally too, but England outgunned that with 15 of their own, as Liam Livingstone romped to a 42-ball century, the fastest in England's T20I history. But Shaheen Shah Afridi, at the top and tail, and Shadab Khan, through the middle with his legbreaks, and around the boundary in a breathtaking fielding display, kept their side on top! That's about it, I think? Breathe!

Umar: "For all the hype and England batting praises . Looking at the card - Livingston carried the game. Rest were pretty ok. As opposed to Pak - who had atleast 3 excellent performances!" Splitting hairs, but yes. That is probably why they finished on top. Losing four wickets in the first seven overs was sub-optimal!

hadi: "You often don't associate Pakistan with such high scoring nail biters. They're either boom or bust. Lovely to see, this one."

Vinith: "You get whitewashed pathetically by a team where the captain doesn't know the name of any teammate but his own and next match score loads of runs and win by a significant margin against the full strength squad of the same team. I've given up on trying to understand Pakistan team" Would you have it any other way? Honestly? Certainly is so dull!

Shadab Khan to Livingstone, SIX, Livingstone thunders to a 42-ball century! The fastest for England, by a distance, crashed hard over long-on! Huge strike, huge innings!

David Willey is pushed up the order with licence to lump the sixes. Few do it better

16.1
W
Shadab Khan to Gregory, OUT, plucked on the rope at long-on! That was Gregory's shot, in his arc on the full length, and though that was headed for a six, he just missed nailing it as he could. Well gathered with a strong base inside the boundary, and that shifts the needle a touch

L Gregory c Shaheen Shah Afridi b Shadab Khan 10 (22m 11b 0x4 0x6) SR: 90.90

Four overs to come. 15 or so is the rate. It's still on ... how many boundaries needed? That's what Jos Buttler would be asking himself right now...
