2.45pm Phew, what an entertaining finish to that innings. Conway and Wagner put on 40 off just 33 balls. The pitch has quickened up, and there's a good deal of pace and bounce to work with for the New Zealand quicks. How will England's reply go? We'll find out soon as Matt Roller straps himself into the controls.

Root to Wagner, 1 run, OUT, ooh, do we have a run-out here? Conway was running back to the danger end, the bowler's end, for a needless second run, and would have been out by many yards if Root had collected the throw and whipped off the bails at the first attempt. But he missed the stumps, and only broke the wicket on the second attempt. It's incredibly close, but it looks like Conway might be out by millimeters here. At the most, his bat is on the line when the bails come off. Wow, what a way for his innings to end. He won't carry his bat after all. Short ball from Root, and Wagner swung it away towards deep midwicket

Root to Wagner, no run, shapes to sweep, then decides against it and looks to hurriedly defend as Root delivers the swinging arm ball. Past the inside edge to hit front pad, but he'd shuffled across so the impact was outside the line of off stump

Root to Wagner, no run, speared in full on off stump with a round-arm release, clipped to midwicket

Root to Wagner, no run, quickish length ball on off stump, stays back and blocks towards midwicket

Well, well. Joe Root brings himself on now. Just a slip in place as he goes around the wicket to Wagner.

Wood to Conway, SIX, that's the double-hundred! Gets there as spectacularly as he got to his hundred, except this wasn't entirely controlled. Another quick short ball, and he has to drag the pull from well outside off stump. Top-edges it, and he manages to clear the boundary while finding the gap between deep square leg and long leg. What an innings this has been. Second New Zealander, after Matthew Sinclair, to score a double-century on Test debut

Wood to Conway, no run, back of a length, straightens towards off stump. Conway is squared up again, was initially looking to work it into the leg side, manages to stab it into the covers. Wood, meanwhile, falls over in his follow-through

This pitch has certainly quickened up today.

Wood to Conway, no run, quick short ball that takes off steeply just outside off. The bounce surprises Conway and beats his attempted pull. Bracey collects over his head

Wood to Wagner, 1 leg bye, short, angling down leg. Gets cramped for room while swivelling to pull, and the ball rolls a short distance away into the leg side. Off the chest, I think?

Wood to Conway, 1 run, back of a length, angling into off stump, shuffles across and tucks it away to long leg

Wood to Conway, FOUR, full, angling into the corridor from wide of the crease, and Conway drives with an open face and beats extra-cover throwing himself to his right. Top shot to move into the 190s

Broad to Wagner, no run, and again. Back of a length, angling into the corridor and straightening wickedly. Not as much daylight between the ball and Wagner's outside edge, though
