2.19pm: So India end with a lead of 304, setting South Africa 305 to win. It's not an out-of-sight target but it will take some getting. India opted to bat on and expose their fast bowlers to the vagaries of an uncertain pitch. No damage done to any of them and a few valuable runs added. Pant's 34 was the top score of the innings. There's still 51 overs left today. South Africa's pacers made life fairly difficult at times for the Indians with Rabada taking 4 for 42 and debutant Jansen getting 4 for 55. Ngidi took two wickets to add to the six he had in the first innings. What will India's fast men do?

Jansen to Mohammed Siraj, OUT, stumps shattered. Jansen does what Rabada just about failed to do. Siraj was always going to back away and swing his bat, Jansen just keeps it full, fast and on middle stump. Siraj swinging bat more in hope than conviction, nowhere near the ball as it homes in on the stumps.

Jansen to Bumrah, 1 run, backing away to pull it, the ball isn't all that short and he under-edges it onto thigh pad. They get a single to square leg

Jansen to Bumrah, FOUR, and that's delectable by Bumrah. Made as if to shape away, did clear his front leg, and this was bowled across him back of a length, he just late cuts it coolly through gully

Rabada to Mohammed Siraj, no run, and that one's missed off stump again. Rabada has a slightly disbelieving look on his face. Full ball targetting the stumps, Siraj backing away again and aims a drive but his bat's in a different pincode to the ball

Rabada to Mohammed Siraj, no run, and now Rabada goes for the full ball on off, it's just wide of off. Siraj has exposed all three stumps while giving himself room and looking to whack it over cover. Can't connect

Rabada to Mohammed Siraj, no run, backing away again, looks to cut this back of length ball that's going over off-stump, can't get anywhere near it

Rabada to Mohammed Siraj, no run, full and on a fifth stump channel, Siraj miles away from the ball while looking to drive, because he's backed away a fair bit

Rabada to Mohammed Shami, OUT, and he's caught at third slip off a leading edge. Fourth for Rabada, who shows a remarkable lack of celebration and just walks back to his mark. This was a length ball pitched on the stumps, straightened a touch as Shami was looking to work it through midwicket. Leading edge flies off the closed bat face for a simple catch

Rabada to Mohammed Shami, no run, length ball nipping back into him, jabbed into the legside

Rahul Oak: "I suspect India would want to get past the 300 mark. Psychology and all that."
