18.3 beats the inside edge and that's given lbw. A touch fuller in the line of the stumps, Agarwal comes forward to play but the ball just slides through and hits him on the front pad. In front of middle and leg and I guess that would have clipped the leg stump. Umpire's call on the stumps 80/2
9.5 got him! Well, well. Seems like Sri Lanka were prepared to give away a few boundaries if they could keep encouraging Rohit to pull and hook. This is a good short ball, angling into the body, so he doesn't get the room he needs to place it where he wants or roll his wrists over the top of the bounce. As a result, he ends up hitting it in the air, straight into the hands of the fielder at long leg 52/1

43.3 bowled 'im! A big wicket for Sri Lanka. Was a fuller-length ball around off, Kohli went back to play it. Offered a straight bat but the ball spun past to hit the off stump 170/3

80.5 No hundred for Pant. He falls for 96. A length ball around off, scrambled seam it looks like. Pant tries to defend it but he looked a little casual there. The ball went through the gate to hit the top of off stump. He is on his hunches, kicks the ground as he walks away 332/6
61.1 huge appeal, and it's given!!! Was that inside edge into pad and into the keeper's gloves? Or is it lbw? Iyer has reviewed... It's an lbw decision. Oh, that's a good ball. Good length, straightens sharply from off stump, and Iyer, playing forward to defend with his front pad away from the line of the ball, is beaten on the inside edge. Definitely hasn't hit the inside edge. Hit on the back thigh pad, in line with off stump, and it's hitting a good chunk of off stump according to Hawkeye. Excellent delivery from that angle, and DDS has produced the breakthrough 228/5

109.4 and that is the sharper bouncer, the effort ball. Ashwin still tries to pull it but this one gets high enough, head high, to take the top edge through to Dickwella. Ashwin won't be there to celebrate Jadeja's century with him 462/7
113.6 taken at first slip. Fuller and wider this time from Vishwa, Jayant follows the angle and hangs his bat out. Gets a healthy outside edge and Thirimanne takes a neat, low catch at first slip. The first Indian batter to be dismissed under 25 in this innings 471/8

24.2 this time he is caught on the back foot on the defence and has been given. This time Karunaratne is saying he has got outside the line so he has reviewed it. He is almost light. There is an umpire's call by a hair's breadth. Wicket lost but what will worry them more is the amount of turn on this. Karunaratne goes back to defend the quicker ball, and it turns back in a mile with a puff of dust from the surface. Hitting leg stump after pitching widish outside off 59/2
18.2 Ashwin traps him lbw. Thirimanne ponders before sending it upstairs. Was a length ball around off that kept sliding in with the arm. Thirimanne was playing for the turn and gets beaten on the inside edge. The impact was in front of off and the ball would have gone on to hit middle. Sri Lanka lose their first wicket and the first review 48/1

33.6 appeal for lbw, given out, and Mathews review. Think this is a marginal call. If he is out, he will be out on the umpire's call. And as it turns out, it is two umpire's ball: both on impact with the pad and with the wicket. Bumrah has bowled this slightly short of a length, Mathews is back and playing for the angle, but it holds its line and squares him up to hit the flap of the back pad. A small part of the ball is inside the line of off when it hits the pad and there is another umpire's call on height 96/3
38.1 massive premeditated sweep, and he has missed a full straight delivery. Given out, and he is not reviewing it. It is really full, has pitched just outside off, doesn't have the opportunity to turn past the stumps because of the full length. Plumb in front. Another premeditated sweep to the first ball of a new spell from a spinner 103/4
57.6 what a delivery! Slower offcutter, straightening from the fuller side of a length, and Asalanka is completely deceived. Plays the angle, misses the flick, and he ends up walking into the ball. The ball zips past the outside edge to hit the back pad, and there's a big appeal that's turned down. India have reviewed... A great review, it turns out, because it's straightening to hit the top of middle stump - three reds! Another for Bumrah's collection of bamboozled batters 161/5
60.4 Dickwella falls into the trap. There were two men square on the leg side waiting for that top edge. They were halfway to the boundary. And what does Dickwella do? After missing a couple of sweeps, he tries yet again, only to get a top edge. An easy catch for Iyer at mid-square leg 164/6
60.6 Jadeja gets his man. Fuller around off, Lakmal skips down the track and looks to hit it over the bowler's head. Ends up miscuing it and Ashwin settles under it at mid-off 164/7
63.3 excellent bouncer from Shami. Angling in at the batter from around the wicket. Between shoulder and head. Embuldeniya takes his eyes off, fends at it and the ball lobs on the leg side. Agarwal takes an easy catch moving a couple steps forward from catching short leg 173/8
64.5 a soft dismissal. Fuller on middle and leg, Fernando opens up to defend but gets an outside edge. Rohit takes a low catch at second slip 174/9
64.6 and he cleans him up first ball. Length ball outside off, Kumara looks to defend but ends up playing down the wrong side. Was he playing for turn? Perhaps. Misses it completely and the ball crashes into the off stump. Jadeja will be on a hat-trick in the second innings 174/10

2.3 a superb catch by Rohit, going low to his right at second slip. Tossed up around off, Thirimanne comes forward to defend but the ball spins away to take the outside edge and Rohit does the rest 9/1
15.5 got him, that's a terrific delivery and a superb low catch from Pant! Not much Karunaratne could have done about this ball, It's on the fuller side of a length, and it's angling into the stumps, but it hits the seam and straightens - properly straightens - and Karunaratne, who's been opened up by the angle and is looking to push towards mid-on, gets a thick edge that dies on its way to the keeper. Great work from Pant to fall forwards and scoop it up inches from the ground 45/3
6.5 top, top over, and Ashwin has reviewed this after his caught-behind appeal is turned down. Every ball of this over has been an offbreak, and all of them have turned from a perfect length outside off stump, but the degrees of turn have varied. This one doesn't turn too much, and Nissanka, stretching out to defend, gets a feather of an outside edge - which Snicko reveals - through to Pant. Outstanding bowling. When the degree of turn can't be predicted, and the length is so good, the batter is more or less reduced to predicting and hoping 19/2
36.2 keeps low, and that is plumb! Unless it's turning past off stump, maybe. Mathews consults his partner and reviews, but he was so deep in his crease and the ball kept quite low too... Oh, that looks so plumb. Opened up completely by massive turn, his back leg jumping across as he tries desperately to keep it out. Was initially looking for the back-foot flick, I think. Strikes his pad low in front of middle stump, and ball-tracking suggests it's crashing into the inside of off stump. Not much Mathews could have done once he decided to go back to that, but I don't know if it was the sort of length he'd normally come forward to 121/6
32.5 chipped to extra cover. A soft dismissal. Tossed up around middle and leg. Dhananjaya looks to go inside out but the ball just dips at him and he ends up lobbing it to Iyer who jumps and takes it comfortably in front of his face 94/4
35.3 another leftie in the bag, a trademark dismissal, and Ashwin has now gone past the one and only Kapil Dev Nikhanj. Beautiful flight close to off stump, then the dip and the turn, and Asalanka, stretching out to defend, outside-edges into Rishabh Pant's pads, and the ball bounces up to an alert Virat Kohli at slip. the ball drifted in initially, and opened up the left-hander ever so slightly 121/5

36.5 Lakmal was out slogging in the first innings, and he's out slogging in the second, all in the same day. Steps out, doesn't reach the pitch of a quick ball fired in towards the stumps, and has a flat-bat hoick at it, attempting to clear mid-on. Only succeeds in hitting it straight at the fielder, at midriff height 121/7
50.6 nicely bowled, and an even better catch from Pant. Angled across the stumps from over the wicket, and it turns, but less than what Embuldeniya expects. Keeps a bit low too, and Embuldeniya, looking to defend while squaring up, gets a fairly healthy edge that Pant takes smartly, staying down low and tracking the ball perfectly 153/8
53.6 given lbw but Fernando want to review this. Was a length ball that nipped back in sharply. Fernando was looking to defend but got beaten on the inside edge and was struck on the back leg. The ball would have gone on to take the leg stump out. India one wicket away 170/9
59.6 India seal the game. No ten-for for Jadeja. Tossed up on middle and off. Kumara once again goes aerial but hardly any power behind it. Shami, who is halfway to long-off boundary, runs to his right and takes it comfortably 178/10
