12.27pm Excellent spot from Sampath Bandarupalli: 34th duck in Test cricket for Ishant Sharma, only four players have more Test ducks.
12.21pm Superb comeback from New Zealand today. They've taken the last six wickets for 87 runs, and the bulk of the damage was done by Tim Southee, who bowled one of the best spells of his career - 11 straight overs in the first session - and picked up his 13th five-for. Given how much inconsistent bounce there is, and the odd instance of big turn too, India won't be displeased with 345. I would suggest they're still well in front in this Test match, given they're bowling last and given the skill of their bowlers and their familiarity with these conditions. Big, big task for New Zealand's batters now.
Adarsh Gopi: "I'm happy that our bowlers continued to show some fight with the bat - a year ago, this same team would have wrapped up at 310/10 and 2 hours earlier. These miles on NZ bowlers legs will slowly add up."
Karthik: "Ajaz Patel will be much relieved. He toiled hard! Well deserved for this morning's accuracy, way better than yesterday."
Jigar Shah: "NZ will be happy that they got wickets quickly, but India will be happier the way wickets have fallen. Specifically that ball by Jamienson to Yadav and Ashwin's wicket ball."
Ramesh: "110.5, it is unfair to say Umesh slogged the ball. It was nice shot, over the bowlers head." -- I used that word purely as a description, not as a pejorative! A slog is a legitimate shot!

11.31 am That will be lunch on Day 2. It was a proper Shreyas and Southee show this morning, with a useful cameo from Ashwin in the late stages. The advantage, after hanging somehwat in the balance, has again gone more Indiawards than not. Shreyas Iyer makes it three successive centuries on debut for India from a Mumbai player, but the star of the morning has been Southee. India will be hoping to prolong this innings further after lunch. We'll join in with the post-lunch session as well in about 35 minutes from now.
Rahul Malnad: "Are spinners getting any assistance on this pitch? " --- Ther is turn, and slow at that, but it is the variable bounce that makes them more dangerous

Silly point now for Umesh, to stop that drive to long-off
