After a humdinger last game, there were concerns this would be a one-sider with India to roll over West Indies. That won't happen, at least definitively after the first innings. We could have another close chase so stay tuned. Himanshu will be back to start the action.

Sajid Tanoli: "Ekanth, do u think its good score to defend?" Yeah, this pitch can be two-paced with variable bounce. Maybe Himanshu could have his say too.

PokyPorcupine: "I guess Hope getting out of a 60-70 would have been better for the Windies. Other batters would have scored at a much quicker rate. Nonetheless excellent innings by Shai." The first half is arguable but he did well to accelerate from his 90s to mid 110s.

Giri: "No words about Shardul in post innings summary? Too bad " Thanks for spotting it. I think he bowled the overs Avesh missed out. He bowled a lot of cross-seamers into the pitch. He tried the odd yorker. But his yorkers, like the others', were few unlike in the last game where they were trying it almost every ball.

Count Vernon: "Is Thakur India's Vernon Philander?" Thakur won't open India's bowling but there are similarities. Also, kudos on the apt username selection.

Shai Hope,115: Getting a 100 on the 100th game means a lot to me. It was tough getting there as my back was getting to me. Happy with 311. Time in the middle is what I wanted, capitalising will help my team. It is a good score as some balls are keeping low.

1:27 pm: West Indies manage to get a score over 300 on the back of Hope's century on his 100th game. Pooran's 74 was the dazzlier innings, both of them took time to set in. Pooran managed to catch up with sixes on demand. West Indies made 71-1, 42-0, 52-2, 53-0, and 93-3 in 10-overs chronologically. They were remarkable in the first half, when the couple of quick wickets fell, Hope and Pooran consolidated well. Pooran managed to shift gears but Hope seemed stuck for a bit but he duly accelerated and managed to get his century. For India, Hooda managed to burgle a wicket, broke the opening stand, and nine overs. He was economical as was Axar. Avesh was taken on, on debut. He went for 54 off 6. Chahal tried to slow it down and give the ball air, the gamble was not successful as he went for 69 in his 9. Siraj bowled well, showed control. He went wicketless but was thrifty.

Mohammed Siraj to Shepherd, no run, Short one, it's slow and beats the pull. Looks to have hit the back of the head, went to short third. The non-striker ran halfway and went back, Shepherd gives a thumps up to indicate he's fine.
