Suryakumar: In T20 cricket a hundred was really special, but it was also important for me to bat till the end, Hardik told me. We needed a score of 190-195 and happy we got there. We had a word in the 16th over that we wanted to take it deep with only Hooda and Washington to follow. I've been doing the same thing in the nets and all practice sessions. We can also hear Rishabh Pant say "unbelievable" in Suryakumar's ear after he finishes that interview. We are all Rishabh Pant. Himanshu will bring the chase to you.

So Suryakumar does not get strike for the final over at all. A buzzkill for India but the damage in the three previous overs have set them up for a total their bowlers would think they can defend. SKY's second T20I hundred had 11 boundaries and seven sixes, an absolute clinic in T20 batting. A proper 360-degree innings. Southee's hat-trick does put some icing on the cake for New Zealand but they will know that the hosts have been bossed by one batter today. The rest of India's batters had an average outing, with Kishan the second-highest run-scorer with 36 but one that took 31 balls. ESPNcricinfo's forecaster gives India a 75% chance of winning this game, but I'm fairly sure New Zealand will have a thing or two to say about that. We'll be back with the second innings soon.

Mayank Shekhar : "Now imagine what he can score if he bats all 20 overs. Get SKY to open pleaseeeee ...."

Sundararajan La: "One man scores 111 of 51 not losing his wicket. Rest scores 69 of 69 for 6."

Meanwhile, the Pro Kabaddi League has been a wild ride so far - season-ending injuries, Dabang Delhi's imperious start followed by a downfall, Telugu Titans' never-ending misery. As the season goes into the final leg, here's a look at the midseason grades of all teams.

W
Southee to Washington Sundar, OUT, hat-trick for Southee! Comes around the stumps. Goes full just outside off. Washington goes for a glory shot with not too many balls left. Mistimed, and the ball goes high up. Long on ran in and got under it. That's a solid trio of scalps for a hat-trick

Washington Sundar c Neesham b Southee 0 (2m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Anvit Aggarwal: "This is less than sensible from Pandya. He shouldn't have taken the doubles and instead given strike to Surya."

Akshay: "This is where Kohli is excellent..Just hand over Strike to the Explosive Batter"

19.4
W
Southee to Hooda, OUT, full ball on middle, and he flicks it behind square, but hits it straight to the diving fielder at short fine leg! Duck for Hooda, Suryakumar still stranded at the other end. Southee on a hat-trick

DJ Hooda c Ferguson b Southee 0 (2m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Nandha: "Guess the Comms are having a tough time finding words to describe the shots made by Sky.... Such is the blitzkrieg at Mt.Maunganui" -- The dictionary has been chucked out of the window

nitin: "@Hameez - Be it Viv, ABD, Viru, SRT, Kohli, SKY - They are once in a lifetime greats!"

19.3
W
Southee to Pandya, OUT, holes out at long off and we'll have a new batter on strike Southee bowls full and a bit wide outside off. Hardik cleared his front leg and tried to club it over long off, but the connection was poor

HH Pandya c Neesham b Southee 13 (27m 13b 0x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

19.2
2
Southee to Pandya, 2 runs, lands safe in no man's land. Was deceived by the full slower ball, and lost one hand off the bat while trying to slog. Ball went high up but fell at midwicket
19.1
2
Southee to Pandya, 2 runs, muscled to deep midwicket where tidy fielding ensures it does not go for four

Ferguson to Yadav, SIX, imagine driving over deep third! Only one man can do it in 2022 and that is Suryakumar. Ferguson goes full outside off. Suryakumar opens the bat's face while trying to drive, and because of that, the ball flies off the blade and goes over the fielders behind square on the off side. Another mega over
18.5
4
Ferguson to Yadav, FOUR, now he is just toying with the NZ bowlers! Lockie goes short, Suryakumar stays in his crease, sees the ball get near his shoulder and then ramps it over Conway!
18.4
4
Ferguson to Yadav, FOUR, 100 in style! An absolute blinder of an innings, especially the last fifty runs. Full ball outside off and he got low before driving it beautifully to the extra-cover fence. 17 balls in his second fifty.
18.3
4
Ferguson to Yadav, FOUR, sliced! Good length ball, a bit wide. Suryakumar tries to reach out and throws his bat at it, and because he has slashed it so hard.... the ball flies over point. Three short of a century

Prabhakaran: "Earlier, it was Suresh Raina who loved and flawlessly played those inside out shots, SKY has taken his place now !! Crazy hitting!!"

18.2
0
Ferguson to Yadav, no run, full ball lands outside off and angles in a bit. Suryakumar moves across the line and tries to flick, but hits his front leg. LBW appeal turned down
18.1
4
Ferguson to Yadav, FOUR, ridiculous! Overpitched outside off. Suryakumar opens the bat's face while meeting the ball for a drive, and because of the bat's angle, the ball flies over short third!

Vishal Pawar: "17 from 17th and 18 from the 18th over. India is well on course to 200 here."

17.5
6
Milne to Yadav, SIX, once again, that famous flick to fine leg and his strike-rate is 200. Moves to the off side as Milne bowls a length ball on off. Whips it off his hips, and the ball flies off the edge and beyond fine leg!
17.4
2
Milne to Yadav, 2 runs, full ball just outside off stump. Goes for that lofted shot once more, but this time it is mistimed. Teases the infielders but lands just beyond them near long off
17.3
2
Milne to Yadav, 2 runs, flicks this fullish ball off his waist to deep midwicket. Man at deep midwicket and man at long on run towards each other to combine and intercept
17.2
6
Milne to Yadav, SIX, slot ball, and put away by SKY. Full ball just outside off. He casually gets the bat under the ball and picks it up over Milne's head.

1
Southee to Yadav, 1 run, pushes this off his legs to midwicket. They jog across for a single
16.4
4
Southee to Yadav, FOUR, short of length outside off. Suryakumar had backed away early but adjusts late to get close to it, and cuts it over the fielder at point. Just over him!
16.3
0
Southee to Yadav, no run, mistimed shot to Southee's left, which he collects on his followthrough
16.3
1w
Southee to Yadav, 1 wide,
16.2
4
Southee to Yadav, FOUR, Mitchell messes up on the boundary line and that's four more for India. Suryakumar clipped a full ball off his pads, and it seemed like deep midwicket would run to his right to cut it off, and even though he got there with a slide, the pick up wasn't clean
16.1
6
Southee to Yadav, SIX, that's been mowed away! Once more he starts an over with a boundary. Fullish ball just outside off. Suryakumar picks it off his pads and hammers it to cow corner!
