8:15pm A stirring 131-run fourth-wicket partnership between Evans and Hain, and it has taken the Knight Riders up to 183 (88 more than what they managed a couple of days ago). Hain and Evans assessed the conditions much better, took their time and then opened up their shoulders as the death overs dawned, reeling off 60 in the final five.

The Capitals, having taken two early wickets, will not be happy with how many they ended up giving. Their seamers travelled and that made the decision to bowl just four overs of spin even more perplexing, given those four overs only yielded 21 runs. They have the firepower to chase this down, though, and will hope for their high-profile batting stars to make a real fist of this run-chase. Join us in a bit for the second innings!

Sam Hain: Felt nice to spend some time out in the middle. I have done a bit of soul-searching in the past month and a half, tried to trust the method that works for you. Credit to Laurie for taking pressure off me. Hopefully it (183) is enough. (On the pitch) It is slightly two-paced. Bounce is a little low. They bowled really well in the middle overs. Should be a good game of cricket, and hopefully we can get the win.

Holder to Evans, 1 run, into the track again. Gets big on Evans as he tries to pull. Splices it, like Russell did earlier in the over, and it is a single to deep square leg to finish the innings

19.4

Holder to Russell, 2 runs, hard length on off stump. Russell has an almighty swipe across the line and splices it. Lands in the vacant square leg region and Russell dashes back to retain strike

Right. Russell has four balls (at the most) to make an impact

Holder to Hain, OUT, straight to extra cover! Slower ball that lands right in the slot on off stump. Hain gives himself room and throws his hands at it. Does not get the elevation to clear extra cover, though, and picks him out to perfection!

Holder to Hain, FOUR, four more! Full toss on leg stump that ought to have been punished. Hain does not hit it where he wants but the outside edge over short third man will do for now!

Holder to bowl the final over. Can he keep ADKR down to under 190?
