Kuggeleijn was accurate in the powerplay and picked three wickets, but the pick of the bowlers was Olly Stone, who was almost unplayable, picking 4/14 and was superbly backed by the other bowlers. Stone achieved career-best figures in this format and bowled with unerring accuracy, attacking the stumps and getting marked movement. James Vince and Shimron Hetmyer did a decent enough rebuilding job and looked like they would haul the team out of troubled waters but Capitals managed to pick wickets at regular intervals. Aayan Afzal chewed up many dots and was retired and that brought the innings to a complete halt.
